Thank you for this imec. I saw earlier and didn't have time to listen. Amazing. These days probably half of my listening to music is classical, mostly NPR. And I have a growing fondness for stringed music. Not much classical posted here and I do enjoy. Thanks again.

I have a couple of friends who play strings and they are totally blown away by this - it's apparently enormously difficult to play violin like that. The film trick of it looking like two different performers is cool too.

HW, you can listen to NPR online: www.npr.org/I have to admit that I listened to the piece when Imec posted it and found it surpassingly beautiful. However, I'm too musically ignorant to get why it's a big deal. Does the "impossible" part of the name indicate that the two parts of the duet are both extremely difficult to play, and particularly as a duet? Or is it because one musician is performing the whole thing so flawlessly? Looking at the video on youtube, several comments mentioned the way he holds the violin, but apparently that's not really exceptional.

HW, you can listen to NPR online: www.npr.org/However, I'm too musically ignorant to get why it's a big deal. 2 things... 1. I have a couple of friends who are both accomplished violinists. They both have said that it is extremely difficult to play it in the manner one would play a cello - however, it may be easier for him as he's a cellist. 2. A lot of people don't quite get that it's the same guy playing both parts - clever editing. Hence, the impossible duet.

That's wonderful. When I started high school, our class was told we would have to play stringed instruments. I was stuck playing violin, and one of the reasons I hated it so much was the discomfort of holding it the traditional way. Perhaps if we had been allowed to hold it vertically, I would have been happier!

Beautiful. (I've never seen the violin played that way.)

oh! I thought it would be about folk music! And now that I have listened to the piece, I do agree it is beautiful!
