If you only knew how people like me envy hair that can be brushed and instantly look nice!

I don't do anything harmful to my hair other than colour it - no permanents (which would be of the "straightening" kind, very hard on hair), almost never use a hair dryer etc. Having dingy greying hair would really be a work liability for me, as I'm working with a lot of people (web designers etc) much younger than I am. Sure, they know I'm older than they are, but they don't know how much.
And I'll pretty much have to work until I drop dead.

Lagatta, my career of the last 25 years (film) is extremely youth and beauty oriented, especially for women! Oh my god. While I am seeking a career change, I will also work until I drop dead. haha. But I must say that it was never in my 'dreams' to retire. Throughout my freelance life, I have had periods of quasi--retirement. After the first few weeks of cleaning house, lunches with friends, things I wanted to do...I found that I needed and wanted a focus, a reason to get up, and I needed people. The hours were very long and now I would be happy with something 3 or 4 days a week. Or, two new careers, 2 days a week each? Enough to survive modestly and to be able to travel.

I am trying to figure out if this is an age thing or a psychological thing,or what. Similar to Bixa's post in Foibles however, a step beyond in that I have concluded that mine is a lack of energy or motivation. Once,I MAKE myself get going, take care of the tasks at hand (in this case, work, either I do it or am broke(r))I'm okay OR I set the ball in motion to do next to nothing. Some of it also has to do with feeling a lack of stamina. Arduous physical tasks that I not very long ago could perform with much greater ease now virtually wipe me out. It sucks.
