Millionaire Brit found murdered at his luxury French home
A retired British businessman has been murdered in France after emigrating to create his 'perfect golf course'.
Peter Fuller, 67, was bludgeoned to death in the isolated luxury home where he lived alone in the Dordogne.
The ex-electrical engineer, who once helped build a petrol pipeline across Siberia, was found by his former wife.
He had been beaten around the head many times with a 'blunt object' during an attack that took place between Friday and Saturday.
Hours after his body was discovered at midday on Saturday, police at Luton airport, alerted by their French counterparts, arrested a 30-year-old British man arriving on a flight from Bergerac.
He is in custody and faces extradition proceedings.
He had moved to Mr Fuller's hillside property to work as an odd-job man and home help three weeks ago.
Odile de Fritsch, deputy public prosecutor for the Dordogne, said of Mr Fuller: 'Two of his cars were missing, although one was found crashed shortly afterwards, at a roadside spot about 10km from the property.
'We are still looking for the other, and we cannot rule out that more than one person was involved in the crime.'
The car belonging to Mr Fuller which was found crashed was a red Citroën AX.
French investigators are still trying to trace a Mercedes coupé also belonging to Mr Fuller which has been missing from the property since Saturday.
Ms de Fritsch said the suspect detained by British police had been living for the past three weeks in a caravan at Mr Fuller's property.
(Dordogne is the French region with the biggest British community.)
