That particular song brings back so many memories of that final year living at home. As much as I heard it played ,I never tired of it as with some songs. It also had something exotic about it.

It's that "hall of the mountain king" thing. (plus, he's so cuuuute)
Here's one from my junior year, which I still pretty much like. Look who introduces them here!

This song was so controversial as you can well imagine for it's time. My high school was 50/50 black and white and in 1970 several friends of mine were interacial dating "on the sneak" as it was so taboo. Janis Ian is a mere 16 years old when she sang this song on National TV. She became our heroine.

I guess I'm the same age as Casimira and Bixa -- those are the songs of my high school years too.
It's odd to see "Groovin" sung by a bunch of old guys -- not at all how I pictured them.javascript:%20addSmiley("%20;)")
What do you mean "French hair", Kerouac? I thought the Beatles' hair was that way because they went to the public baths in Hamburg and didn't have time to put the grease in before a performance? For me, French guys of that period looked like Jean-Pierre Léaud.

casimira, thanks for sharing...
I had never heard that Janis Ian song before. I read up on it, and she was only 14 when she wrote the song. Amazing.
The performance was on the Smothers Brothers show. I have been watching those shows on dvd lately. I'm sure I saw them the first time around, but was too young to remember. My mom was a huge fan. I remember listening to their records a lot as a kid. And we did go see them perform recently. I like them because Tommy Smothers always acts so goofy and naive, but he is NOT. He can be very well-spoken, and had very strong and intelligent views on censorship etc. and the creative and political freedom he should be allowed to have on his show.

You are so welcome. Love sharing us oldster stuff . The Smothers Bros. was a good show, they were funny ,like you say goofy, silly funny but also, were cutting edge on alot of the social issues of the day ,especially for prime time TV in the late '60's early 70's.

Look at how young he is in this video. I was a senior in H.S. when this came out and have been a huge fan ever since.
