Ladies,
What are you doing for the man in your life for Valentines Day this year?
OP:
I am planning on a picnic, not sure if we will go to the park (it may be busy) or just set it up in our own garden.
We don't do gifts, but I may find a little thing that I can surprise him with.
I could always send a dozen red roses to work on Friday.

I'll do the same as most days. Cook him a nice dinner.
(Valentines Day is not that big here)

HT, you should just let him go hungry, make him appreciate you for the rest of the year!

Exactly. If you do the cooking every day already, I don't see much special about just doing it better than usual.

I'm sending my bf a card, that's all. I won't be with him. He has other duties to attend to.

my bf knows to expect neither card, nor present on that day.

We don't bother with it at all. Pancake Day is far more important

She directly told me that she wanted me to know she is not expecting any special thing on this day. You know women, anybody thinks that could stop me for inviting her out to a dinner? I will take a long bath, shave put the perfume on which she likes, and wear me up. Invite her to her most favorite dish, treat her like a princess, wait for her to get ready and will not complain even if it lasts 2 hours : , always smile, open all doors for her, will secretly tip the waiters to well behave her, and all the other details. No presure, no obligations, all relaxed and comfortable. Just because I just want to spend a nice night with her.

We do bother, we have a tradition since we met when we were skint students of having a kebab and a bottle of wine... BUT BUT BUT Pancake day is infinately more important. Pancake day is one of the highlights of the year in this house and if its a choice between kebab night and pancake day, pancake day is always gonna come out tops

I feel somewhat liberated by not having any traditions, because it is so disappointing if you cannot respect a tradition.

Its not a very strict tradition K - more a good excuse to have a kebab once a year and a bit of a joke! I haven't been overly distressed if for any reason we have missed the annual kebab

Kebabs must be eaten at least twice a year in any case, to reinforce one's knowledge that they are not a healthy meal choice!

why kebabs only twice per year? i have them at least once or twice per month. though admittedly, sometimes i have chicken kebabs.
as for valentine's day, not really celebrated here.

I got nothing for Valentine's Day - however, I spent a heap load of cash on treating the both of us to a day out with friends.
