Belatedly coming in to admire and comment on the wonderful succulent and cactus pictures.
Kerouac, it looks as though you are coming to a love for spiky things.
Amboseli, that beach picture is beautiful with the blue Agave against the blue of the water. And you have a great collection. I love how you have the plants displayed.
Gorgeous specimens as always from you, Mick. I haven't seen my Huernia blooming for over a year. The Cleistocactus is magnificent!

Is that what the Latin name means! Thanks Mossie! Very beautiful Mick. I think coledomononis means monkey tail.....

Oh OK! I do see a monkey tail now, but think the buds look like claws and the open flowers like teeth...

So pretty. None of my Gasteria or Aloe show any signs of bloom activity.

Fine then. Have it your way. Better than I thought! That Echeveria might be "ruffles".

If it's not, it should be. Yesterday I replaced one of my favorite Echeverias, E. runyonii 'Topsy Turvy' -- another great name. The one I had before succumbed to something that was eating the succulent leaves from the inside, leaving a dry husk. I was out of town when it hit and it took out several beloved succulents.

I love that coral color in succulent flowers.
Is A. kotschoubeyanus one of those cacti that pull themselves down into the ground in certain seasons?

Fully opened flowers of Sansevieria cylindrica. The buds take forever to open fully, but open just enough to look like homely flowers. Then you get this ~

SUCH beautiful Aloes! I was thrilled this past Friday when I went to the park market. There was a young man there from the Mexico City area who had some wonderful things seldom seen around here. He had a nice big Aloe ferox, but I chose a much cheaper baby one. There were all kinds of S.African plants & I got a Euphorbia obesa, which I've wanted for years. Happy.
