I was looking at that on my phone last night and couldn't make head or tail of it - but I can now! Would be really difficult to overwater them.
You're right - that is an absolute beauty. The banding on the leaves is magnificent.

Here's a couple more - Duvalia sulcata Hildewintera colademononis -

The Hildewintera plant/flower combination must be one of the prettiest in the plant kingdom. But that Duvalia, with its Victorian colors and crazy yet elegant petal arrangement is extremely compelling.

Are these plants trying to escape their planters?

What? And bite the hand that feeds them?

My gigantea is too small to flower yet. It was a cutting from my old plant that I nearly lost but now I also have a dozen seedlings from this years sowing.

Mine is ancient. I got it from a friend who moved a year ago. It had been abandoned on a back terrace, had almost no dirt, and was pure white. You can see one white branch in the first picture. It began responding with gratitude almost the very moment it was transferred into a new pot with new dirt.
Years ago, when I lived out in the country, I had one in the ground. It quickly spread and bloomed profusely.

Yes the stems do go white when struggling. Give it root room though and warmth and it will really take off.

Oooooo ~ they named an Aloe after me!!! If I were going to name one after me, it would be that very one! All the others you show are also wonderful. I love the very chubby Duvalia.

That Aloe is really one of my favourites. I had a much larger one but lost it when I moved home - it's a somewhat tender plant.

That's not surprising. Would you happen to be in an Aloe ID-ing mood, Mr. Cactus? I got the one on the left thinking (hoping) it was an Aloe variegata. It's never been very robust. I love the other one but don't know what it is ~ This is a completely gratuitous picture of my Echinocactus grusonii just because I love it so much ~

Yes that looks like variegata. They can be a bit touchy I find until they get settled. Suggest you don't overdo the exposure to sun in your part of the world. Maybe morning only. The other one is probably a Kelly Griffin hybrid possibly Franco or Marmalade.

Thank you! The variegata lives under the glass cactus table, so gets filtered sun and is protected from too much rain. I really appreciate your pointing me in the right direction for the other one, as I know nothing about Aloe hybrids.

Fockea are such outer-space plants!
Gosh, Mick ~ Aloe seedlings? Did you actually plant the seeds or did those come up as volunteers around the parent plant?
re: last picture ~ I guess you bought one for the front and one for the back door, right?

No, planted the seeds. I've got quite a few this year. 19 Ramosissimas alone. I'll post some more tomorrow. No, didn't buy one. Maybe next time.

I have never liked cacti (sorry, Mick) and was not especially keen on succulents either, but today at the supermarket I bought two plants. Since it was a cheap supermarket (Lidl) and the plants were from last week's specials, there are no labels on them. I'll take a picture and post it here so somebody can tell me what they are and how to take care of them.
Googling succulents, I find it just says they don't need much water or care.

Even better than Jack Schitt ? (Jasper Fforde Thurdsay Next books) I love your aloes Mick and your Ariocarpus flowers are glorious X Bixa...I have the same aloe (on the left)...along with my other succulents it lives in the GH all year round. In the winter I pop them all insde my PVC GH that stands inside the glass GH (AND I line the glass GH with bubblewrap)...I still lose at least one most winters altho everything survived last year.
