actually not that high. the whole mountain is only 1.400 or so, and i was well below the top. clouds were just pretty low. this was at the start of the red ski slope btw (though you don't see the slope on the picture as there are no clouds on it) - first one i did, and a day before i planned to try it (was my first skiing trip, and i had thought to try a red one on the third day, this was the beginning of the second day). we had taken the wrong lift by mistake. my hands were shaking as i took as many pictures of the surroundings as possible to document my last minutes...

Oh gosh ~~ I haven't looked at this thread for a couple of days. What an amazing array of aerial shots! And what's more incredible is how the pictures are accidentally arranged to perfection, with that arid, fascinating moonscape in Australia leading to the beautiful puffy skies above an Atlantic port, thence to the ethereal blue crags breaking the snow-like cloud cover in the Alps -- magnificent!
and thrilled beyond words to see you here, Palesa!

Happy to see you, too, Palesa. The Alps are always breathtaking to fly over. So many little places for the clouds to niche themselves!

This is still my favorite thread in here...I love these shots...all of them. I tend to take the cloud shots of just sky,it's my natural inclination (and easy : ,but, seeing the landscape, the green and browns, earth colors like imec posted takes these pictures to another level and appreciation for me. Landscape, plein air painters would kill to capture this light and the color tones. Understandably so. Beautiful.

Greyghost, that's a magnificent shot! I love the way the flying figure seems to be beckoning the clouds and they must be blowing her draperies. Gorgeous palate, too.
Imec, what a totally wonderful series. The crisp bands of color you caught against the sky and clouds is so timeless and beautiful.

What a bunch of great skies!
Imec, I love how the delicate little puffs are framed by the equally delicate tracery of the leaves in that last one in #277.
You caught such wonderfully different drama in all three of those pictures, Kerouac.
Rikita, love the feeling of imminent storm or clearing -- what will it be?!
All those duplicated lines and mounds in the last photo just knock me out -- subtle and effective.
