School starts in France next week, probably in a lot of other places, too.
It is one of the moments that I most despised every year, no matter which grade I was in, but apparently a lot of people liked returning to school.

I distinctly remember how every year when I saw store windows filled with displays featuring fake autumn leaves and giant yellow pencils, my stomach would just turn over.

And the back-to-school sales/displays start so early nowadays. There have been back-to-school deals for weeks now! Stores have Halloween things out now. (Do people really buy their bags of Halloween candy in August?!?) I am a teacher so the back-to-school things still affects me now. I start the new school year tomorrow. I am definitely sorry to see summer end. It also makes me start thinking about winter coming -- and our winters are long and cold!

My kids still have over a week before they go back to school. I think I have all their supplies now, have to do some last minute school shopping later on this week. livaco, the winters are too long here too.

In France, there are summer sales until the end of July, and the moment the summer sales have ended, the school supplies fill the stores. I would have been devastated if I had had to put up with an entire month of August of school supplies when I was young.

I only looked forward to going back to school one year and that was when I was 14 and had been on holiday to Italy and had kissed an Italian boy. I was dyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyying to tell my friends all about it . Oh and I had a great bag I had got on holiday too. What a big showoff

Can you imagine that everybody you know would now be informed by a mass mailing of text messages 5 minutes after the kiss?

I think some of the really efficient young text messengers could and would do it during the kiss.
