about you.
For instance, I can be very shy, at times.
And what little things may surprise us about you?

People who see me for the first time after having only heard me on the telephone or whatever don't expect me to be 1.88 m. I guess I sound a lot shorter. Perhaps it's the little squeaky voice.

I would have guessed you to be quite tall, Kerouac.
People who know that I love animals, would be surprised to know that I can just as easily hunt them down and have them for dinner if I'm in the mood. (At least the wild ones).

I pictured you racing around on all fours, Kerouac, so really didn't have a fix on your height.
Seriously, 6'2" is tall. I guess when we imagine other people, we must cast them as over-all average, unless we have reason to believe they have some exceptional physical feature.
Deyana, do you use weaponry for your food-getting, or is this another case of all fours?

Weaponry, bixa! Rifles to be precise. Although I admit, my son is a much better shot then me. It's just the way of life here. It's a case of if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I can picture Deyana with a rifle!! I would have assumed Kerouac to be a little smaller than 1.88/6'3"!!! You may have to change your handle to Big_Kerouac!! Cant think of anything that would surprise you about me.

I can picture Deyana with a rifle!! Iain, truth be known I feel a bit too much at home carrying a lethal weapon! Must be in the genes. ;D Kerouac is 6'3''? Wow, that is tall. My son's uncle is 6'4'', but one the gentlest men you could imagine. His wife is just over 5 feet tall and she has him wrapped around her little finger.

Something else that may surprise you is that I'm the only female member of a forum that is full of men. No, it's not that kind of forum. They are very tough men who have been through hell in some cases, I find it really interesting.

Big K it is then.
I am really very boring, there isn't anything surprising about me, although I think few of you know that I am really 93 yrs old and at the moment I currently staring in a burlesque show, under the name Dame Marmalade, with my twin sister Trixie D'vil.

I think few of you know that I am really 93 yrs old and at the moment I currently staring in a burlesque show, under the name Dame Marmalade, with my twin sister Trixie D'vil. Well, we're always looking for new faces at Fleur de Tease. Stop on by if you get a chance! What's surprising about me? I do have a fondness for flowers and the theatre; co-workers are absolutely baffled by this. For most, the driving idea is to get 'ish faced throughout the weekend before being required to be back at work on Monday. I also have an interest in dance despite having no aptitude for it, as well as an under utilized interest in architecture and urban-planning.

Nice to know you have co-workers with such lofty cultural interests, nic.
One time I was going to Amsterdam I had to take a short flight from London to there (after a short flight from Montréal to Toronto, to Amsterdam)... and my seatmates were two Liverpool supporters who were travelling to "the Dam" for the weekend to "get shitfaced, smoke dope and look at prostitutes". They were reading the Daily Mail. I was reading the Guardian.

Nice to know you have co-workers with such lofty cultural interests, nic. ..."the Dam" for the weekend to "get shitfaced, smoke dope and look at prostitutes". They were reading the Daily Mail. I was reading the Guardian. It just means I'm in the wrong business (and have been for years!); the day longshoremen as a whole become interested in the fine arts, is the day I start to question the continued existence of the world. Now what's the point of looking at prostitutes? Go to the mall! Or, at least that's what I hope you told them. Women of leisure are far more pleasing when you engage them. Oh, but the British can be incredibly dense. It reminds me of two things: that "Meeting Place" statue at St. Pancras and a car advert I saw throughout the Tube stations. The Meeting Place is a giant 9-meter high statue of a couple reunited after a presumably long absence. Instead of kissing each other (which seems like the logical response), they're eternally locked in a warm embrace because they didn't want "offend British sensibilities. We're not French afterall." The ad was for some company called "Car Giant." I only saw it in Tube stations, but the text went like this "Chris had a long face. The wife wanted a new family car and this had the potential to blow a huge hole in his finances, not to mention the other plans he had for his money. A little bird told him to get down to Cargiant where he bought a quality used car that kept the wife more than happy and saved himself a tidy little sum in the process. Just enough for a wicked weekend in Paris... with the girlfriend, tweet tweet!" I should've taken a picture instead of copying the text. Some of the posters had before and after photos on 'em. Positively amazing.

I like flower aranging and doing complex tapestries with traditional linen based theads. Seriously though, some of you may be surprised to hear that I enjoy a glass of red wine from time to time, usually Friday evenings. I love kids, which may also surprise a few of you and I have two wonderful daughters who are now both in their 20s. I also babysit for my sister's kids quite a lot which gives me an excellent and regular reality check. Her 11 year old is profoundly autistic and keeping him occupied can be immensely frustrating.

Oh Iain, there you go again defying all sterotypes, being British I would have imagined that like me you spend your weekends being incredibly dense. Who would have guessed.
Surprisingly, dense as we can often be we certainly seem to have a stronger sense of irony than can be understood by outsiders.
