Baz has asked me to tell you all that he won't have access to the internet for 5 days.....there has been a disgraceful misunderstanding on the part of his ISP who, today, told him he wouldn't be connected for TEN days but finally had mercy on him and reduced the sentence to FIVE days....
We'll miss him.

Jeez... why is France Télécom so mean in the Lot? I have the same provider and have never had any problems with them. When my ADSL box suddenly died one evening, I had a new box the next morning.

Would depend upon the method used, of course. Some are neater than others. I would prefer the "vaporize" method myself, if it came to that.
Oh, sorry, bazfaz.

Maybe Spindrift mis-heard. Maybe it wasn't ISP Orange, but Agent Orange. He's been gone a long time.

I telephoned Mr and Mrs Baz ten minutes ago. She is still painting the interior of the house - white - and he came in from the garden (covered in mud) whilst I was talking to Mrs B. They still have no internet connection and are lucky to have the phone connection. There is a problem between France Telecom and Orange. It is confusing that they have to phone TWO helplines both completely separate from each other. They get two different versions of what's going on. Although one employee told them that it would only take 5 days for their internet to be re-connected it seems, in reality, that they are at the back of a 10 day queue. Mrs Baz even suspects that it might take them MONTHS to be re-connected.
However the good news is they feel settled in the new house, a downstairs interior wall has already been taken down (wires hanging loose at the moment) and the wood burner is keeping them warm which is a good thing because
the bad news is that the central heating does not work and they might have to buy a new boiler.
But, in any case, they seem cheerful. Bless them.

If only they had a cat to warm the bed.

Yes, he mentioned the cat (in the context of the previous owner's lack of honesty about (1) the cat and (2) the fact that he'd installed the central heating himself and it doesn't work....
I didn't dare ask whether the cat had found its way back yet but obviously he'll tell us if it does ;D

Hello. Sorry to have been absent for so long. If you have a choice, never use Orange. When we moved house we sent Orange our new addrerss. They, in their tiny little minds, decided this meant we were cancelling our contract. Nothing we said could make them stop the impending cancelling of our account. When it happened they were totally incompetent at restoring it. In the end it has taken 9 days.
The cat is obviously content where it is or else it is still on the way here.
There is an electrician working on the spaghetti ( = food related) of wires in the sitting room where we had a wall taken down.
Mrs Faz is painting walls white.
I have beeen pickaxing in the garden to create a new bed and planting all the pots of stuff we brought with us.
Polish Maria has sent two parcels of bulbs as a hous-warming present. I thought you would like to know that przyjemny zapach is the Polish for lovely scent. I fear this gift is the opening gambit to inviting herself (and friends) to stay in the new house next year.
Now, back t the garden.

Welcome back baz. Sorry you had to go through all this. We feared it would take longer. Sounds as though you used the time wisely. What kind of bulbs did Polish Maria send you?

Maria sent tulips of a strange mauve colour, muscari and scented narcissus.

Glad the cat finally found a permanent home, Baz.
Now you can relax a bit more and get to enjoying your new place.

Baz!
You all have been busy, and it sounds as though the new place is already home despite all the upsets.
What a lovely idea to give bulbs as a gift for a new home, in the expectation that the recipients will be there a long time to watch them develop.

Having Polish Maria staying is a challenge. We might be strong enough by next year. And she does have such a bad time with her husband it seems cruel not to welcome her.

I was also thinking that it might be a worse punishment to let her cook and then for you have to eat it than for you to cook and have her criticize everything.
