Tonight duck - magret de canard - with fries and haricots.

I had my second round of broiled chicken wings in satay sauce. One round left, probably the day after tomorrow for lunch.

Yesterday I made a Greek dish of green beans stewed in a dilute chunky tomato sauce, with some cubed potatoes and coin-sliced carrots, and of course olive oil, onion and garlic as well as parsley, dill and spring onions to finish.

My father loved beef tongue sandwiches when I was a little sprout. I liked them too but the tongue creeped me out because it looked too much like my own tongue so I didn't want to see them being made.

Oh, I got over the way tongue looks very quickly. If I had to eat something that looked like a human ear, finger or penis, I might be a bit more recalcitrant.

I don't even have testicles, but the lamb testicles at certain "ethnic" businesses are a bit off-putting. Somehow I don't have the same reaction to their hearts or livers. I'm sure a lot of genitalia is found in catfood, as well as other odd bits.

To prepare testicles, you slice them into round pieces before sautéeing them in butter or olive oil, so only the cook is aware of what they look like.

Wonder if the cook would have pans big enough to fry my balls.

The lamb balls I've seen at butchers are larger than any human ones I've ever encountered. Obviously, not tiny lambs; probably at the stage between lamb and mutton.

How do you cook the octopus so they aren't rubbery?

The frozen octopus was pre-cooked in Vietnam and was quite tender.

Tonight I had boudin blanc for dinner, just to reverify that it really is the most boring and insipid article of French cuisine. And yes, I can once again confirm it. It is such an item of nothingness that there isn't even a translation in any other language of the Wikipedia article about it.

i made fish with butternut pumpkin, carrot and capsicum in coconut sauce, and sweet potato. and as mr. r. and agnes aren't that fond of sweet potato, i also made some egg fried rice for them (the egg fried part because i used some leftover rice from the previous day).

I don't eat sweet potato either, just so you'll know.

I made chili con carne but strayed a bit from the recipe -- more onion and garlic and also some chopped Thai chillies in addition to the standard chili powder. It suited me. Quite a bit to freeze now.

Tonight I will have a wonderful magret de canard, but my mental debate is still in progress about how I will fix the potatoes to go with it.

Traditionally they are fried in duck fact.
I'm cleaning out my freezer and found 2 magrets. Had one the other day. One to go.

'Cajun' dirty rice.
Probably bears no resemblance to authentic cajun anything...
Made with turkey mince (less than 3% fat), basmati rice cooked in stock, red, yellow and green peppers, carrot, onion and celery all diced up really small...hefty amount of cajun spice mix, chopped spring onions chicken stock and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. It was very tasty.

I thought I had enough magret for at least two meals, but I gobbled it all tonight. It was just too good. The potatoes were rissolés (tiny cubes), in olive oil. I could hardly use the duck fat since that was busy in a different frying pan.

Yesterday was beloved's birthday. We generally go out for a meal together on our birthdays so I was full of excitement. 'No need to get dressed up' says he...alarm bells start ringing...but maybe we are getting takeaway? A nice curry? Chinese ?
We went to McDonald's
We used to pop in there after I'd worked on a Saturday night, pick up a nice coffee and a sausage and egg mcmuffin but we hadn't been for about 2 years. I asked for my cheeseburger to have no pickle, no tomato sauce and no mustard.
Got home.
Smothered in ketchup...yuk.
Scraped it off (muttering darkly) and tried to eat the blessed thing as son and OH were really enjoying their meal...
Had indigestion all night. Serves me right.

After much grumbling on my part Jeffers has agreed to take me out for a pub lunch tomorrow there are some really nice places quite near here...fingers crossed. I've been to an 'organic' farm shop this morning, bought some nice beefsteak. Made a lovely casserole for this evening...😋

Mc Do for a birthday would be a cause for divorce.
I made a Moussaka yesterday. All by myself... It was very good but too dry, next time I'll put more milk/cream etc. Tonight I have no idea. Sausage but what vegetables ?
