Mich, great minds think alike! We had virtually the same except it was fusilli rather than spaghetti.

It's cool and endlessly raining here, which called for my satisfying supper of new potatoes crushed with olive oil & yogurt, fried eggs, dry toast, and grilled red onion.

as for dinner, we had a little belated halloween party yesterday, and for dinner offered the kids sausages, fries and cut up cucumbers and tomatoes. got too many sausages and fries, though, there were a lot leftover. i suppose the kids had eaten too many muffins and cookies before.

That sounds really nice, Rikita! I loved my supper tonight: white beans served with fried queso fresco and also sauteed red and orange bell peppers. Made a nice little spicy relish of lime juice, salsa macha, & onion and pushed the whole thing around with a piece of ciabatta. I like my own cooking.

I've seen (tinned or jarred) salsa macha in nearby Mexican or central american shops; didn't know it combined chiles and peanut butter. Hardly rare; that is Mamba in Haiti, and also the bases of sauces from Indonesia to west Africa. Do you make your own or simply buy it my computer keyboard is REALLY screwed up today...

I heated some pork samosas in the oven. They were excellent, but I imagine that they have to be qualified as Chinese or Vietnamese samosas, because pork would probably not really be an option as stuffing for samosas in the countries of origin. Frankly, I don't give a damn.

I've never seen it made with peanut butter, which would actually make more sense than some other versions. I've never made it, even though it would be pretty simple. At the moment, I have three different versions: one with chile mora which is deadly hot, another plainer & rather delicious one made with toasted chiles de arbol, and another with whole seeds and peanut halves. For a while, I only used the oil portion of the mora one, topping it with plain olive oil which seems to have calmed it down to an acceptable level. The de arbol one is my favorite for incorporating in cooking. The seed-y one is a curiosity which I won't buy again.

Cheddar stuffed mushrooms, bacon and chips. Not entirely healthy but very satisfying.

Junk food at a former buffalo grill now called Canadian burgers close to liege. Avoid.

I presume you mean the city. We have a street named Liège here. Don't know if they have horrid burgers anywhere.
Nothing particularly remarkable about Canadian burgers except that sometimes they are made of game meat, such as bison, or even caribou.

My guess about a place called Canadian Burgers in Europe is that they would use Canadian bacon on their burgers rather than standard (American style) bacon.

I do not think Canadian Burgers would seem anything remarkable and not really something we are known for. Of course many of us BBQ burgers all summer long and some try to garnish them with unusual toppings but really, they are just a summer staple. Must be someone who really really loves burgers!
I have some large chicken wings broiling in the oven, just put seasoned salt on them for now, once they begin to crisp I will brush on some BBQ sauce.

Squinting to read the menu, I think it's in France.
Anywhere with a name like Canadian Burger or something sounding American will likely be in France. Next to the local Leclerc supermarket there used to be a cafeteria -- cheap, with cafeteria style food. Now it has been redone and is called Jack's Burgers. There are Brits, Germans, Dutch and other tourists here but absolutely no North Americans.

I had a veggie burger actually 😝 A meat burger in Belgium even if called canadian is not likely to have much taste so I went for veggie. The fries were disgusting ... onion rings were good🤒
And I could have been in a Dardenne brothers movie. Everything was miserable. No decorum. Old chairs. Miserable clients. 4 of them. Miserable kitchen. You watch that kind of movie and you gang yourself right after.

I take it you were desperate for a quick meal, Whatagain? Either that, or doing penance for something. Good educated guess, Bjd. It is indeed France. There is a hint as to where in the reflection on the right hand side. When I visit you, we must go to Jack's Burgers.

She doesn't like little trees?! Make pasta & broccoli for her, one of life's finest foods. I don't know what I'll have tonight, although my neighbor across the street is setting up her corn on the cob stand, so that may figure into the meal. Last night I made the best bean salad ever: little white beans, string beans, golden bell pepper, onion, garlic, olive oil, lime juice & a dash of balsamic with lots and lots and lots of parsley. Luckily there is some left over for tonight.

We made Marie eat brocolis first in mashed patatoes when a waitress told her it was ´shrek purée ´. It worked wonders.
Tonight an ossobucco. Did I tell you my wife does it better than my mum did ?
(Désolé maman. I still love you. ).

she used to like broccoli for a while. right now she doesn't. actually, she is hesitant about vegetables in general currently. she eats corn (on the cob), and peas (when they are still frozen), and occasionally one or two green beans or half a mushroom. and potatoes of course, but not sure if they count as vegetable. ah, and raw carrots, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers occasionally. she does eat some fruit, too, though, especially apples, bananas, berries and mango, so i think it is alright ... anyway, it will change again. i ate barely any vegetables for several years, when i was a kid, and now i eat lots of them, so i am sure she will start eating more again, too ...

Looks good. On Sunday we had carbonnades flamandes or stoffvlees. Chopped veal with a white sauce mushrooms and something more. Very good. today i had junk food at the airport now and I'll have a dinner at the Novotel of malpensa. Looking forward to it. Funny enough I am surrounded by 20 people waiting for their flight and only one is not drinking beer. Ah 21 is looking for table to sit and 22 following him. Both with beer.

I admire you for making stuffed cabbage just for you, Kerouac. I always think of it a a big deal to be made for a bunch of people, but obviously that need not be the case.
Did you get away okay from THEM, Whatagain?
Tonight I had some teensy lentils cooked with tomato & celery & curry flavors. I also had some little bitty potatoes, so threw them in as well. Sauteed zucchini & carrot together with a couple of cardamom pods for a nice side with the lentils, as well as half a ciabatta.
