It’s on Local Authority land and I’ve been complaining about it for 6 years because it was so overgrown and way over our property. No action whatsoever.
Then a few months ago, quite by chance, I noticed a guy with a clipboard looking at another nearby tree. I asked him if he was doing a tree survey which he confirmed so I drew his attention to our tree which he hadn’t realised was on Local Authority land. He surveyed it and out if the blue a tree gang turned up yesterday and seriously pruned it.
Result!

Result indeed - hope they did a good job that you approve of Mick. I was trying to work out what type of tree it is - so difficult in Winter ? Beech

Lime - can see why you would want it cut back . My daughter lives on a road lined by limes - the sticky mess is a real pain for her and her car which she parks underneath

It varies from year to year but sometimes the stickiness is on everything in our garden. Not a favourite tree at all.

But lime trees smell so wonderful when they are in bloom. And you can make herb tea with the flowers.

But lime trees smell so wonderful when they are in bloom. And you can make herb tea with the flowers. I used to go spend a couple of weeks late winter in the Phoenix area every year when the air in residential areas is filled with the fragrant scent of citrus blooms. I loved it and associated it with the best weather of the year there, but I also heard locals complain about the "stink".
