For being man enough to test his own invention and for giving us an exceptional film document, Franz Reichelt is worthy of remembrance. Reichelt (alias the flying tailor) designed an overcoat to fly or float its wearer gently to the ground like the modern parachute. To demonstrate his invention he made a jump of 60 meters from the first deck of the Eiffel Tower, at that time the tallest man-made structure in the world. The parachute failed and Reichelt fell to his death. But we'll always remember him for this video.

I always dreamed of flying when I was a little kid, in my dreams I was able to fly if I only concentrated and focused on it.

I've been given a ride in a Tiger Moth years ago on a film set. I liked the sensation. There's also a gliding club near here.

You would not get me in a glider for love nor money!!! I am bad enough in single engined planes and helicopters. Tiger Moth sounds very good though and always makes me think of gentlemen pilots between the wars.

My dad used to take us up in small planes when I was a kid. It was a real thrill.
Having watched "The English Patient" last night, today wouldn't be such a good day for me to go up.

I do not mind small jets, but piston engine planes make me edgy. I fly quite often from London City to Edinburgh and it is twin prop planes that do this run due to noise and runway restrictions. On a windy day the approaches can be a bit bumpy.

I have been in a glider and in a ULM, but nobody is going to get me to go skydiving.

I went in one of those little planes over to one of the islands on the Great Barrier Reef.
It was fine, I just prayed continuously till we landed. It only seated about six people.
I did however decide to do the return trip as well after seeing how sick all the people on the boat ride before us were!
Praying is better than spewing I think and the view was awesome.
I think you should do it spindrift but I will pass.
