........is surely the result of having abcessed teeth. Since I've had my infected roots extracted I have been able to throw off a headcold that would otherwise have gone down to my chest.
I am feeling so much stronger and altogether better.
How is your immune system?

well, I seem to be one of those people that never get sick. Really. I haven't had a cold for over a year and half now, I don't think I'll get one this year either. I can eat almost anything, no matter how poorly it's prepared and nothing happens to me! I can go to India, and eat and drink the same as anyone else and it doesn't affect me. (However this may be because I was born there and lived there for the first five years of my life, so I probably have some immunity to lot of things over there already.
I live in the dusty countryside with lots of domestic animals in the house who bring in everything, and I still never get sick. Thankfully it looks like the rest of my family are the same way.
I honestly think that being too germ conscious can make us sick.
But it's true, Spinny, in that teeth and gums can affect the rest of our health, many things can enter our bodies through our decayed teeth, and in some cases can go straight to our hearts. That what my dentist told me, when I was pregnant, and another reason I made sure my oral health was good during my pregnancy.
It's good that you have had that all sorted out now.

I haven't really been sick for a good ten years now. obviously I've had the odd day with a runny nose, but it's usually sorted by a nice curry and early to bed.
Touching wood, I hope it will stay so for another ten years or so.
My former manager kept getting ill several times a year, the illness going straight to her lungs, with the almost constant need for antibiotics. She finally got her tooth sorted (dentist's fault like in your case, Spindrift) and I think she's feeling much much better too, now!

I wonder why dentists and doctors don't tell us these facts?
