Thanks for this Bixa. I suppose it would have been helpful on my part to have posted some of her music.... (although the link has some),yours are beautiful. Yes,what a clear,clear voice.

Yes, very sad (there is some bug in my computer and often I can't listen to music). Here is the McGarrigle sisters' website, with many tribute messages: www.mcgarrigles.com/ The McGarrigle sisters' father was Irish: Frank McGarrigle and their mother francophone Québécoise: Gabrielle Latrémouille. These influences are obvious in their music, but so is a lot of originality and creativity. Casimira, our extended hippie or boho culture is one of the many things that make living here in Montréal very pleasant (this from a hardcore winter-hater who is VERY happy about our grey mild month of January this year).

Not to get off the subject, but that is something that comes through so clearly in all your posts about Montréal, Lagatta -- your love and appreciation of the city for its variety and its different cultures. The only thought I ever had about Montréal before knowing you was, "pretty place". Now it is a city I'd really love to visit.
