Never let facts get in the way of a good story....

So, about a week ago, a huge furor erupted over the videotaped beating of a 15 year old girl in a Seattle transit tunnel. The video was broadcast worldwide and it's graphic:

Much sympathy was directed towards the victim since security personnel stood around and did nothing (as they are instructed) while the beating took place.
As I predicted to those around me, the girl and her mother promptly went on a media blitz with their NAACP appointed attorney, including an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday. I thought it was odd that they would not reveal their last names on the show, even while talking about filing suit against the city/county.
Well, there's a reason. It seems this "victim" has an extensive criminal history herself, which includes assault and theft, uncovered by a local talk radio personality:

I followed up on a tip from a listener and have uncovered a rather extensive criminal background for young Aiesha.
She has been charged with Attempted Robbery in the 2nd Degree - a Class-B felony - in both King and Snohomish Counties. From the charging papers in the King County case: On January 26, 2009 (when Aiesha was 14), Aiesha and a friend went into a market on Rainier Ave. S. at 10:30pm.
A security guard saw the friend shoplifting - and when he detained the friend, Aiesha started punching the guard with a closed fist in the head and face.
Aiesha received a deferred disposition - which means it would have been expunged from her record if she had kept her nose clean.
But since then, Aiesha has racked up another second-degree robbery charge in Snohomish County. This one for for purse-snatching. She is due to appear in court on the 22nd of this month on that charge. If convicted, it would presumably reinstate the King County case.
On May 23rd, 2009 at 12:20am - Aiesha and a friend approached a woman walking on Highway-99 in Edmonds. According to the Snohomish County charging papers, Aiesha and her friend attacked the woman and pushed her to the ground. The victim told police that Aiesha and her friend hit her in the head and face. Aiesha and her friend forceably took the woman's purse.
See a pattern here?
Maybe the reason trouble always seems to find our poor innocent 15-year-old bus tunnel "victim" is because she is always seeking out trouble.
Something to keep in mind as Aiesha, her mom, and her attorney are laying the groundwork for a big payday from the taxpayers of this region.
I am not trying to indicate that the victim deserved to be beaten like that, because it's heinous to be sure. But it will be interesting to see if she gets a hefty settlement of taxpayer money or not, now that this 'dirt' on her thug behavior has emerged.
