So, next day dawned and after having the daily pastry, coffee and a planning session, off we went. Out the front door, equipped with our carnet tickets, two cameras, the long daddy Canon lens 70-200 which goes in my small pack, extra batteries for my camera and a bunch of odds & ends.
We had decided that we were going to the Loire Valley and take a one day tour of four of the chateaux. We had done much research and had found a company called Acco- Dispo which had the tour that we wanted. They meet you at the Tours, France Tourist Office and take you to each one. You have to get to Tours. We had been on the SNCF website and we could have purchased the train tickets there but we decided to take the Metro to Gare Saint Lazare and purchase them. The metro ride was great and we found our way to the SNCF office, fully expecting to have some trouble because we had been told by the lady in the Main Tourist Office that only about 30% of the people working at the train offices, speak any English. K2, is that true? We had no problem, the man that helped us was very nice and polite, gave us the best deal and we were out on the street in about 20 minutes.
Well, we decided to walk around and try to find our way back to our neck of the woods.
Walking around this area was an adventure because we had never been in this area, so everything was new. It was one of the cool mornings so, we were actually wearing light jackets.
We came out of the train station( K2 they are doing a major renovation, and the place was a zoo!!!). We walked a couple of blocks and I was busy talking to Mr. T63, and no answer, so, turned around and there he was staring at another long, legged, beautiful girl with a rolling suitcase. He is almost 6'2 and she was easily as tall as he was. Now!!! this is getting to be a little more than annoying. He came to catch up with me and I just raised my eyebrow, said nothing and turned the corner. As we were walking, we paused at a building, painted black and I looked in the windows.. They were amazing.
After some research I found that the store was called Trousselier and they are basically a department store for upper level kitchens, furniture, all geared to bridal.
Right across the street from them is a lovely little place:
There was a bigger building, which looked like a conservatory of some sort, but there was scaffolding all around it, with a high fence, so this is all I could get for a picture.
We walked around and found Housseman and walked back toward the Opera. Once we got back into our neighborhood, it was lunch time, so we found a little bistro close to home. We had a very nice salad with veggies and the beautiful green beans, a nice vinegerette and of course wine and dessert. While we were sitting having our espresso, yes, you guessed it, a beautiful, tall woman with a rolling suitcase went by. And then another one. Our server was helping someone beside us and mystery solved!!!!! I overheard her, she was speaking English and was answering the question from a gentleman at the table;. Oh yes Monsieur, there are many beautiful, tall, slender women in Paris now, because it is Fashion Week !!!!!
The adventure continues! Stay tuned.
