I thought those in warmer climes might enjoy watching this scene transform over the next couple of months. By late January, I should be able to walk to Hudson's Bay on this river - not along the river, ON the river (and lakes and other rivers along the way). Just a few wisps of snow on the far bank on November 25th. Watch this space...

Good idea. I look forward to watching the transformation. Is the the part of your property that backs onto the river?

I'm waiting to see old Imec and young Imec play hockey ;D If the river freezes. You'll be waiting a while HW as neither imec plays the game - sort of sacrilege in this part of the world, but when did I claim any degree of sainthood?Things are starting to get interesting now that the weather has turned cool. A bit more snow in the last day or so and possibly some more in the coming days. By next week though, it will be very cold and that means very little precipitation of any sort. As you can see, ice is now forming on the river. Looks like we had a visitor in the back yard this morning.

oohh...I like this thread. Good idea, imec.
We've still had no snow here, I think it's coming soon though. I just hope I don't find too many dead coyotes in the ditch this year...

Ice fishing is definitely possible - I'll take pics of the ice fishing huts later in the season. Here's a pic from yesterday...

Thanks folks, it was taken as the sun was setting around 4:00PM - the light is often very pretty at that time - hard to capture though - honestly, this pic does not do it justice.
