Journalists and television people regularly invent new words to try to describe new items or situations -- ranging from podcasting to the manbag. Some of them catch on and others don't. Often some of the ones we hate the most refuse to die. Just look at the reaction from the Europeans on any travel forum when an American refers to the "chunnel."
Luckily there are some websites like 'Urban Dictionary' to help us figure out what some of this stuff means, but it isn't always entirely serious and therefore can't be trusted all the time.
I thought we might talk about such words here.
This was brought on by a new term that I came across today that I thought was quite appropriate for those so-called vegetarians who aren't really: "flexitarians."

Would you count an old one like 'infomercial' as an example? Or Docudrama?

What the hell is "trending"? It appears at the top of my Yahoo mail page all the time: "Trending: Laura Bush" (or some celebrity or diet or whatever)

Trending is, I think, a reasonably natural verb derived from the noun, although I'm not sure what they are trying to say with it in that truncated phrase. There are certainly worse noun>verb neologisms floating about than that.

Flexitarians sound more like some kind of religious group.
And what's a "manbag"? A bodybag?

Sounds like a body part to me.
