What jumped into my brain was the "When shall we three meet again" bit of Macbeth. With such a scary flame sky and the silhouettes of the 3 bushes with their witchy hats it was almost supernatural. It is an awesome photo, Mark. Congratulations.

Hot weather, dry ground, a bit of wind to kick the dust up into the sky, a few clouds - a bit of a recipe for a good sunset I suppose.

It's probably not "hot" here compared to southern Spain, but it's already warm and back up to 30° for today and tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind that here. Unfortunately it is forecast for 40 degrees or a little less the next few days. Fine to go in the pool but it's too hot to actually do anything outside.

Warm and sunny, with a few clouds. Hope it is similar on Saturday, as we will have a big party for Agnes' first day of school.

A light and soft rain. Good for the garden but not nearly enough after the heat of the past week. 23 deg. Perfect temp! Very much like our weather today in Montana, after a couple weeks of searing heat and 11% humidity. With “Fire Season” in full swing, we welcome the rain. But not the lightning strikes and high winds in the forecast for later today into the weekend.

The mounded clouds in that part of Florida are one of the great beauties of the world. Lovely word pictures, Huckle.
Woke up to light rain, which apparently had gone on all night. There were little pattering showers all day long. It's just 5 pm, but fairly dark already.

A super cold cell has created havoc as it has moved slowly from the south west across to the eastern states. Huge damage bills and roof damages spectacular. Heavy rain, hailstorms and woke up this morning to multiple reports of snow.
Another cell due tomorrow.

We’re supposed to get that kind of weather in Western Montana later today and tonite. If you don’t hear from me after this, you’ll know why...

That is really scary. Today has been wild here but nowhere near as wild as that in the video above. It is predicted to be calmer tomorrow

When do you all get good weather, Questa?
Scary indeed -- I had no idea Europe got tornadoes.
It is pouring again here.

Bixa, Oz is a huge country and has many weather patterns. The "Top End" (northern quarter) has 2, the Wet and the Dry..The dry is about March to November when the tropical clouds build up and the rains come with spectacular lightning displays.
Down the east coast and hinterland we have 4 seasons ranging from tropical to subtropical. More humid in October to March but warm all year. Gets frequent cyclones and storms.
South east third of the country is Alpine and has 4 well defined seasons of 3 months. the snow season starts in June and we have lovely Springs and Autumns and milder summers. This is also bushfire time, there are 3 burning as I type in spite of the current cold and wet of winter.
The lower quarter of the country and the vast inland is dry and hot with my city on the coast. We have very short Springs and Autumns of 6-8 weeks, a cold and wet winter where we get the dams filled then Summer starts about October-November and goes through to March. It peaks about February with temperatures of 45C
The south eastern quarter of the continent is currently in serious drought ...10 years without useful rain.
The kids in school and the garden gurus still maintain the fiction that Oz has 4 seasons of 3 months starting in January.

Thanks, Questa. I knew that such a big country logically had wildly varying climates, but was curious about your area. I take it your city is not nearly as dry as the sections more inland.

The dry is about March to November when the tropical clouds build up and the rains come with spectacular lightning displays. The wet must be really, really wet then if that's the dry. In other news - the British Ambassador to Zambia has stuck his head above the parapet and been the first to acknowledge that due to the poor rains this year, the worst since 1981, "The British Government has advised Zambia to declare the hunger situation a national disaster in order to attract more international support." The country runs on mealie meal (maize flour) and prices are gradually going up and up due to shortages. The government, in typical style, has said they have enough in stock to not need any international help - just like for many years in Zimbabwe with Mugabe when he kept refusing international aid. In Zambia, as with Zimbabwe, due to the low levels of water in Kariba lake/dam (where the majority of electricity is generated from) there are wide sweeping and lengthy power cuts - the government electricity provider, called Zesco, initially issued a schedule of when and where these would be beginning in June, but this was experienced to be like a fairy story as within a day or two this was not adhered to and cuts were made willy nilly and for far longer than anticipated. I predict that within ten years, due to poor governance and extremely heavy debt, the country will be akin to Zimbabwe under Mugabe, though it isn't any better really now. www.zambiawatchdog.com/british-govt-hh-urge-zambian-govt-to-declare-hunger-national-disaster/www.daily-mail.co.zm/state-mulls-radical-action-on-mealie-meal-prices/

The dry is about March to November when the tropical clouds build up and the rains come with spectacular lightning displays. The wet must be really, really wet then if that's the dry. I s'pose I should have used "then" instead of "when", O Eagle-eyed One. The locals call this time the Build Up and it is hot and steamy and people get irritable and assaults, bar brawls etc more common. Then the rain starts and it rains, it rains, The crocodiles start moving around as the wetlands fill. The lagoons fill with water lilies and the hundreds of birds fly in from Siberia and Tasmania. Have you read Neville Shute's novel, "In The Wet"?

Pity about that, it is a good story. Shute also wrote "A Town like Alice" and "On the Beach" both of which were made into successful movies. The latter was filmed in Melbourne in the late 1950s and is about the world ending due to radio-active fall out. At the time Melbourne had strict laws about drinking hours and night clubs etc. Ava Gardner starred in the movie and left us with our favourite quote..."The movie is about the end of the world, and they couldn't have found a better place to make it"
