It's raining, but I'm not complaining. This is what a normal rainy season should be.

We are back to perfect sunny weather at just the right mild temperature, and it's supposed to be like that all week.

Very nice weather with lots of sunshine and a few fluffy clouds. Great temperature so far, but it's supposed to be hot again during the weekend. We host a garden party for friends and family (45 men/women) for both our birthdays on Sunday. Nice weather is very welcome but not too hot, please.

Yes, France and the UK are getting the heat turned up this weekend, and it should last a week. But apparently it will only be about 30-32° which is nothing compared to what we have already endured.

You'll forgive me if I laugh at your characterization of that temperature, Lugg?
Beautiful and bright here, which is good as I'm off for an excursion. Wish me photo luck!

Yesterday we were in Bayonne and it was 32°. By the time we got into our car which had been parked in the sun, the thermometer showed 39°. It cooled down after a while once we started driving. Back home today it was 29°, tomorrow it's supposed to be 30°.

I don't think it got above 30°/86° today, but ... Charlie & I went to a food event out in the nice breezy country where it was quite sunny and there were towering clouds presaging a thunderstorm that is getting ready to hit the city right now. We both got overheated to the point of great discomfort. I went directly into a cold shower as soon as I got home & am now sitting on the sofa in a loose light garment, drinking iced coffee and tapping out my girlish thoughts.

Bjd, no traffic problems from the G7 summit in Biarritz or the counter-summit in another Basque town?

Bjd, no traffic problems from the G7 summit in Biarritz or the counter-summit in another Basque town? Lots of the roads were closed, in particular the freeway that arrives in Bayonne. And of course, the whole centre of Biarritz closed.

Just as warm in Paris, but I think this is that last day before the heat breaks. Unfortunately, nobody has promised us a decent bout of rain.

It was cool and cloudy at the beginning of the day in Paris. And then, wham! the clouds disappeared and it got hot and muggy again.

It's been very hot and muggy here the past few days. Tonight, thank goodness, it has cooled off significantly and there is a pleasant breeze.

I was glad I decided not to take my bicycle to run some errands yesterday. There was heavy rain early in the morning, but it subsided, and it was partly cloudy - lovely cirrocumulus clouds. But returning home after walking and taking the bus back, there were VERY high winds, the tail end of the hurricane. And this morning is very sunny but there is actually a slight chill and I'll be putting on more clothing to go out. But this is very nice cycling weather.
Patrick, are you still in Amsterdam?
I learnt that "we" are not supposed to buy any new clothing in September, to put our money where our moth is in terms of fast fashion and its environmental harms. While I agree, I had just bought a pullover on sale. I don't always succeed in finding things second-hand, and jeans are impossible. I shop little; it isn't a "recreational activity" for me but a chore (except for food shopping at markets, of course), and keep my clothes for years, but at times one needs certain items.

Not above 25° today and cloudy all day. Still waiting for the promised rain. It is supposed to cool off although the forecast for here is still mid-20s all next week, although a bit cooler at night.
I haven't bought any clothes for months now, other than a t-shirt on sale in July.
