Today was very warm and muggy in Paris. Theoretically it was the last day. Seasonal temperatures and rain tomorrow. Maybe. Actually, I think it already rained a little tonight.
To make us feel lucky, the evening news showed us snow scenes from North Dakota.

A warm sunny weekend suddenly turned into a cloudy and rainy Monday, with a temperature drop of about 10°. Early this morning it was pouring down and the wind is still blowing. Only 13° at the moment (8 am) and the sky has huge dark clouds.

Kimby...according to Spike Milligan (Goon Show) you wrap the rain in brown paper packages, tie them with string and sent it via British Mail to where it is needed.

But how do I find a British Mail box in Montana?

Don't you carry one with you? Erect it wherever you are then call British Post and complain about poor service you are receiving...

Raining again tonight. That is good, but soon the temperatures will drop and it will not seem as nice.

We had on and off downpours yesterday but today was just mostly cloudy. It finally got sunnier in late afternoon and the temperature went up to 21°. More rain forecast though.

In Oz the spring has lasted 6 weeks and we are now into summer prematurely with the high 30s and fires causing problems already.
Fires I mentioned in #7816 are still contained (not controlled) with rotating squads of 30 or so firefighters from other states going to take up the fight as the locals have been battling since late August.
On the news this week was a report that showed the population in this state was falling. Many gave as their reason that the heat was just too much for them.

Which state questa? I have Adelaide on my weather app and it doesn’t look too bad for the coming week. Pouring here at present but not cold.

While southern France endured vile tempests, northern France basked in Indian Summer. Not for much longer, though.

In Oz the spring has lasted 6 weeks and we are now into summer prematurely with the high 30s and fires causing problems already That sounds bad Questa so early into the seasonal change. Here is hoping it is a temporary blip and not a permanent feature. Hope that your Indian summer holds on K2. Lovely day here for end of October ... mild, some sun, a misty start, unfortunately I was at work. Tomorrow is forecast to be shite - heavy rain and wind. Just my luck as I am not in work but I have to be outside for most of the day. Need to seek out my waterproofs.

A bit chilly here. Morning mists bedecking spider webs with tiny droplets so they stand out on railings and plants when I'm on my morning walk with Django. I like the rich autumn colours too...but I hate the lower light levels. We need electric lights on as early as 12pm.

You make that sound so pretty, Cheery, except for the early dark, of course.
Odd but beautiful weather here -- crystal clear but often hot by early afternoon, then some wind and cooling off as evening approaches, followed by light rains. Unfortunately this weather pattern makes me feel like my head is filled with chopped fiberglass and used aluminum foil. Accordingly, I gave in & took an allergy pill this morning, which left me in a zombie-like state of sleepiness.

It is getting chilly in Paris, too. Soon I will be turning on some heat, at least in the bathroom. I'm trying to hold out until November, though.

The renewed fire danger came as Queensland and northern NSW were warned to expect another spring heatwave this week, with hot, dry and windy conditions raising fire danger across both states.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Kimba Wong said temperatures across Queensland would be 10-12 degrees above the average on Monday – and the hottest for October in a decade.
“In Brisbane, 36 degrees is the current forecast for Tuesday, and that will be the warmest October day since 2005 if it comes up,” she says.
Wind gusts of more than 50km/h were expected to wreak havoc across the state’s south-east region on Monday. Fifteen fires were already burning on Monday morning, including three in rugged and difficult terrain.
Ipswich and the Lockyer Valley were among the regions most at risk, but severe fire danger warnings were imposed for the Darling Downs, Granite Belt, Maranoa and Warrego.
“The maximum temperature record for October in Ipswich is 41.3 degrees, so getting up to 40, 41 degrees in Ipswich on Monday and Tuesday is certainly getting pretty close,” Ms Wong said.
150 fires in Qld . I'll check out northern NSW tomorrow

Absolute torrents of rain here. It wasn't forecast, but started up hard about an hour ago and hasn't let up. There is so much that it sounds as if the whole world is made of rain.

Snow and wind in Montana. Interstate highway is closed except for essential travel.
We’re sitting it out by the fireplace.

Yes, very early, considering our first sizeable snowfall happened in late September.
This morning it’s 0 degrees (-18 C) here and -5 (-20 C) at the lake cottage. Multiple schools are announcing late starts to allow buses more time to get the children safely to school.
We had our gas heater hooked up early this year, thankfully. And I already moved a ton of cured firewood from the outside woodpile to the garage a few weeks ago.
Guess we felt winter coming in our bones!
