Why are the skies blue again? We need more rain!

Snow in September in Montana! We only got 3” at our house, but parts of Montana got over 4 FEET! 52” in Babb, which is east of Glacier National Park.
With leaves on the trees, we went out to shake the snow off the smaller trees and shrubs to prevent breakage. Today the sun melted most of our snow. It’s just cold out.
We hadn’t planned to use our gas heater for another month, so hadn’t yet had the power company come out and restart our gas service. I called today to request restarting, but the power company is dealing with downed power lines from the storm, so it may be awhile.
Our high temperatures are lower than the normal LOW temps for the date. We’ve had a fire in the fireplace for the past couple days to take the edge off the cold.
I sure hope we get an Indian Summer after this freeze.

It was nice and clear this morning but is now clouding over ahead of the predicted rain. About 16° at the moment.

Although the temperature at about 6:00 a.m. was just above 0C, it is now 15C and the sunshine is making it feel much warmer than that. I have the patio door open enjoying the fresh air. Next week they are predicting temperatures around 18C with sunny skies. Thursday is the day planned for taking out the boat and dock from the lake.

It was quite a nice day here; a bit grey but warmish, no rain. What was noticeable was how still it was and somehow the sounds of traffic on the roads / life etc. were kind of off kilter and hard to pin point to location.

I would really like the temperature to drop. I will regret that statement soon.

Cold and snow on the way, so we will be blowing out the sprinklers today and moving firewood into the garage for easy access during the next 5 or 6 months. Sigh.

We're having standard autumn weather in Paris but a few degrees above normal, so it will probably be a shock when the temperature goes down.

At the moment (5:20 pm) it's 22° here, but it's cloudy. The sun did appear for a while this afternoon. It was only 11° this morning though.

10C with a light rain. My husband had been mowing the leaves covering the lawns but when he took a break at noon for lunch the rain started. He is now back out there trying to complete the task but I believe he will be back in soon.

I am sitting on the couch looking out my patio door and the view is gorgeous! The leaves are brilliant shades of red, yellow and orange. There are no clouds, complete sunshine and a gentle breeze. Looking forward to Friday where the temperature is predicted to be 18C.

Dull and overcast again, reminded me to get my light box out of the attic. Had my first dose today, hopefully it'll get me through the winter without me turning into Mrs Miserable...worked last year anyway.

We had sunshine and 22° yesterday and some rain during the night. It went down only to 16° so I suppose it's cloudy right now but it's still dark. I don't like these days when it stays dark so late in the morning. If we actually get a vote about whether to keep winter or summer hours when they abolish daylight savings time, I hope they will choose winter hours.

Too bad it's not possible to vote winter out of existence!
It rained off and on all night and was still gray and rainy this morning. Right now the sun is out and everything is sparkling.

I don't mind winter when it's not a Canadian one. Winters here tend to be a bit dreary but are usually fairly mild and rainy. Maybe a day or two of frost.
I'm going to Bordeaux for the weekend and it is supposed to be 30° on Sunday!

It's been rather colder and wetter than is seasonal here in the Appenine foothills, but today was borderline warm and it looks like the next five days will be low twenties with clouds and sun, very nice. We are scheduled to get to 22 on Sunday, how can it be 30 the same day up North in Bordeaux? Enjoy!

It is storming up a storm here -- lots of thunder, lightning, wind, and the rain, already pouring, seems trying to outdo itself. It's only four in the afternoon, but quite dark inside the house because of the storm. The dogs have come scampering in and I've had to bring their porch tuffets into the house as the poorly designed porch is now flooded.

About 6 weeks ago dry lightning struck in the drought stricken region of north eastern NSW. The heavy bush is like a tinderbox and fires broke out in several places and soon joined into huge fires. Hundreds of firefighters have been fighting them for weeks but the fire front is 56 km wide and has destroyed small townships...30 homes in one area. This is where an elderly couple was killed yesterday when their house was engulfed in flames.
The terrain is peaks and gullies where it is impossible to reach by truck so the air fleet is the main weapon. The water bombers are having to fly long distances to collect water as the drought has dried up the usual sources.
Global warming> drought> tinderbox> fire> loss of property and life> inability to control fire. Climate skeptics take note. It is here, live, not a prediction.

To live with is impossible as you say, beats me why people risk life and imprisonment in detention camps to live here.

The problem with fleeing bad weather in Montana for Wisconsin is that Wisconsin gets Montana’s weather 2 days later. We had snow flurries yesterday!

It IS early. Both in Montana and especially Wisconsin.
It seems this is the year of a long previous winter and an early upcoming winter. Summer was pretty short, and cool, too. The only time I “swam” this summer was when I “fell” off the little sailboat (to keep it from capsizing).
