Gray here too, but 14°. We had some rain but it seems to have stopped. It's supposed to go back up to about 20° on the weekend.

Huge rain system moving through, will rain again, they say,all day tomorrow. This same system is the remnants of the Pacific storm/huricane and will effect as far North as Chicago and the head East to New England. Fascinating. Cool, dry air behind it with a promise of a beautiful weekend.

Is that why I'm getting rain? It was quite hot today, but with beautiful clouds & it started raining a few minutes ago. Hurrah!

Today I watched a sickly brown sun set in the sky of Cairo in a haze of pollution and the fumes of swine flu. The temperature at sunset was about 24°.

Never go TO a country people are desperate to leave FROM a country the people leaving want to get to. These people going the other direction know what they are doing!
The spigot is open and the rainy season is on here. The rain will be getting colder for the next three months, then gradually warm until once tepid we will be able to infer it's Summer again.

Warm and smoky this morning, as though the city were burning down.

Today I watched a sickly brown sun set in the sky of Cairo in a haze of pollution and the fumes of swine flu. The temperature at sunset was about 24°. What a grim and bleak description. Dispels any romanticized visions I had about Cairo. Cool front moved in (thank you Canada, where most of our fine weather comes from) and today is forecast to be clear, dry and sunny (hovering around 70F).

A surprise sprinkling of dusty rain. Nobody can figure out what is going on. Probably frogs and locusts are next.

"Dusty" rain??
It rained quite nicely here last night, and for a good while. The only downside was that when I eagerly ran out to see how much roof runoff was being channeled into the cistern, I realized that the inadequate opening from the gutter was blocked again. This meant a change into clothes from the hamper, a dash into the dark and a cold soaking as I detached the pipe, poked out the leaf mat from underneath, then re-attached the pipe with the cold water pouring over me.

Hailstorm today with it even accumulating, then thunder and lightning. Not the usual thing one sees here at all.
