I didn't think this appropriate for the Change the Station thread, although,I'm not sure it goes in here either. In any event, National Public Radio News director, analyst, and founder,Daniel Schorr, died Friday. He was one of my heroes of the radio broadcast news world. He will be sorely missed,at least, by the majority of the liberal minded radio listener. A wonderful tribute and testimony of his life linked below. One of my favorite stories related to him was how after he retired ,he toured with Frank Zappa and the Mother's of Invention, got to love it!!! www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=2101143Please feel free to move this wherever is appropriate.

I haven't listed to NPR since I moved to France but I do remember Daniel Schorr. I don't know anything about his personal life and only remember snippets about some of his various radio pieces but anyone who toured with Frank Zappa gets a big thumbs up in my book.

I listen to NPR over the net sometimes when I remember to do so, which is not often.
Even though I do not share its preoccupations anymore, it warms my heart to know that there is still a small fringe of Americans with whom I could live if I were still in the country.

I used to listen to NPR for hours every day since in my job as a real estate appraiser I was in my car for half the day and then the rest of the day I was at home writing appraisal reports with NPR on in the background. I do miss it but I just don't have the time to listen like I used to.

It's especially a godsend when traveling on the road...jeez..is so hard to find anything else between here and the drive to NY especially, save the once in a while renegade station...
