We've just opened an office in Manhatten and people are going backwards and forwards. Staying in hotels is costly so we are looking at renting a house or apartment some 20 minutes into Grand Central. Can anybody suggest appropriate districts?

Depending on your budget Mick, NYC,Manhattan in particular, has some fabulous neighborhoods/districts. Grand Central Station being right in Midtown,(and being a major transit hub),is quite accessible to just about anywhere you would like. Please feel free to PM me Mick if you would like some more advice on this. So much depends on personal preference with regard to what kind of neighborhood you would like to be in,whether it be an Arts District, near Central Park, somewhere that has alot of night life,or not, etc. There are some great, great neighborhoods!! More affordable,Brooklyn is an option, although becoming less and less so these days. How very exciting for you!!!

Riverdale in the Bronx is a 20-25 minute ride to Grand Central on Metro North. Actually the station stops are Spuyten Duyvil and Riverdale. There are a lot of apartments right near the spuyten Duyvil station, some with outstanding river views. Riverdale is a nice neighborhood and much more affordable than Manhattan

Many of the big French companies who house families for a couple of years tend to choose some of the towns north of the city. One of my colleagues stayed with friends who are temporarily settled there and found the commuter train from Larchmont perfectly convenient for going into Manhattan every day.
