I have never been a fan of Bowie -- didn't like his voice. However, I allowed myself to be convinced to go with some friends to a concert once. It wasn't bad.
The only album I ever owned by Bowie was Space Oddity.

I loved him in the movie "The Man who Fell to Earth", music wise not that big a fan.

Yeah -- that's a movie that will stay with you forever.
I've always had the feeling that he pinched his talent by the way he channeled it -- the whole stardom, outrageous performance thing. Also, there is something about that slight tremolo he's always had that twangs on my nerve strings wrong.

I like a lot of his stuff, although it is hardly a surprise that from the mid-eighties, his output hasn't been of fantastic quality. Although I agree his voice can sound odd, I like it. It's like that discussion we had before in another life about what can sound good. He's not technically a skilled singer, but that doesn't matter.
As for 'pinching his talent', I have no idea what that means. The 'outrageous performance thing' only lasted with the Ziggy Stardust years (which ironically, were his best), and it was pretty much the norm in the pre and during Glam Rock sort of era.
