Fingers crossed for a speedy re-roofing.
My petty personal trauma for the day was dropping my camera. It seems to be okay, although it has a slightly dented scuff on one corner. I was with the dogs & we had to push our way out of a crowded street with a huge parade on it, so the pooches were already sort of freaked. Then a guy coming towards us on the very wide sidewalk decided to be cute and do this sort of ha-ha I'm blocking you dogs thing. They were all wtf and trying to get out of the idiot's way, leaving me to be the may pole within their leashes. Trying to get out without falling over made me drop the camera.

I hate it when people (almost always men) do things like that. For one thing it can be part of a scam, with a partner there to steal your camera or bag, but even when it is a 'friend', it is very annoying, like a guy I know who enjoys grabbing the back of my bicycle then letting it go - I've explained to him several times that it is potentially dangerous, but he kept on doing it. Fortunately I haven't seen that person in several years.

My ferocious Jack Russell cross chihuahua is very possessive of me. When out walking she gets between me and anyone other people and barks and tries to live out her delusion that she is a Pit Bull cross Mastiff on guard.

LaGatta, almost as annoying are the friendly "helpful" people who invite me to go past. I was going to go past anyway, you simpleton, and your moving to one side and inviting me to deviate away from the path I was on with the dogs is no help and makes me wish my pets were biters. grrrrr Questa, my guys are totally friendly, so it's doubly irritating when a human acts in this confusing way to them. Anyway, this is the picture I took as soon as I picked up & dusted off the camera ~

Thanks, LaGatta ~ the kids say gwouf. Thank you, Questa -- you can imagine my heart was in my mouth for a few minutes. Do you have more than one dog? Yay for the rescuers! And they get the best dogs, too.

Spare bed is an ancient heavy high model, with casters to move it. Tried to get it back to the wall by pushing it with my back and walking backwards. It moved suddenly and I fell between bed and side table crashing down bouncing on all the sharp edges. I now have a body covered with deep bruises and a cracked or broken rib or ribs. If I go to GP she will send me to hospital. There they will x-ray it and tell me what I know from just feeling it.I have not damaged the lung and there is no treatment apart from analgesics. It is not worth spending 7 hours waiting for some doctor who hasn't started to shave yet to tell me all about it.
But Holy Cow...it hurts!

Ouch! But you do really need to get it checked out or you will have to turn in that spare bed for a medical model.

Questa knows her medicine. And her body. She’ll grit it out and be fine. But cracked ribs - ouch!

Ow ow ow! And I'm sure even as you were falling you were thinking about how long this kind of thing hurts afterwards. So sorry, Questa. Arnica! arnica arnica arnica! It comes in cream and ointment and gel form. The gel is the nicest. Slather it on and keep a'slathering.

I presently have a very painful arthritic thumb and index finger and the arnica certainly keeps the pain at bay.

I'm going to have to look into medical cannaboids. A friend unfortunately has a far more serious and potentially fatal medical condition - bladder cancer that has metastised - this would have been certain death even a couple of decades ago; now it is uncertain death, but still very threatening. For the moment he is responding well to treatment. He takes a cannabis derivative for pain and I'm thinking of finding an MD who could prescribe the same (for arthritis; painful but not remotely life-threatening). What he takes doesn't give him a buzz at all but calms and relieves pain (cbd, not thc).
Sorry that this happened - what a bummer!

You are all such lovely friends, I am so pleased you are in my life. Damaged ribs are pretty common here as we live mostly outdoors and so many play rib-busting games. The rib itself is not so much a problem, but if a small shard of bone punctures the outer or inner linings of the lung, that is a problem. The air pressure inside the linings is slightly lower than out in the atmosphere so if there is a puncture the lung collapses and the nursing staff run around with flasks of sterile water and make ingenious pumps to reset the pressure.
In my case I checked my breathing, did deep breathing exercises and poked and prodded. The only thing amiss was a large bruise with a skin scrape over the lower rib area. Many thanks to those who suggested the Arnica. I bought some gel and it worked wonders.
Whatagain...you forgot the worst affliction...Hiccups !

OK, I had to see my GP for some prescriptions today. Told her about the rib pain. Naturally she sent me off for Xrays. These showed 2 fractures - ribs 7 and 8 on my left side. As I had expected there was no damage to the lungs or internal organs.Treatment...patience, painkillers and deep breathing.

After watching my mother receive the big box of Christmas chocolates for ten years at the nursing home, today I received a notice from the local town hall telling me that I am now ancient enough to get chocolates, too, and telling me when and where to pick them up.

I went (well I went I'm through) a anguish crisis... Had some BIG knots in the stomach, could not sleep, was constantly stressed. Don't really know why, should not have a major cause for it. Just small ones. Well, the triggering effect was probably my daughter's accident, which could have been much worse. Anyway, I hate that state of being dominated by stress. Been there, done that, got the tshirt. But it does go. You just need to be aware of what it actually is and treat it accordingly.

I have a few of those Tshirts myself. You are wise to see the link beween your daughter's accident and previous times of anxiety and grief.
Millions of people who turned up to grieve at Princess Diana's death were caught in in a similiar situation, but not aware of it. The loss, anger, and sorrow that they could not express in their 'normal' lives was given an outlet as they stood and talked to strangers.
Do you have someone you can talk to...like a family doctor or counsellor? We have a compassionate and experienced band of helpers in this Port waiting for the Storms to pass. Our Forum was well named!
I echo what the wise old(ish) Mick has said...it will pass.

I don't need a counsellor, I have you all. Thanks.
(I have a wife too... she kind of knows me. But she is also under some stress herself. )
Ps : I like this expression about the shirt and Tshirt. Quite strong way to put things.
