You can sit on one of them while she buys more stuff.

I had to carry it back to the car ... heavy. Ironwrought.
My petty trauma is being seated on a flight next to 2 ladies who bought perfumes. And must have tried 19 before doing so. Nauseating. They have nails that must have taken hours to paint.
No doctors for sure ...

I believe if you tell the attendant you are allergic to perfume they will try to give you another seat.

Big explosion this afternoon around the corner from my place. My walls shook. But since it was around the corner, I couldn't see what had happed, so I had to go downstairs. Actually, even downstairs I couldn't see anything since the street was instantly closed off. Municipal security people made everybody back up pending installation of barriers. The cones went down on the roadway, the yellow tape was put in place, drivers became irritated as they were diverted.
Apparently there was a gas explosion. On Sunday morning, gas workers had closed the street to rip up the sidewalk and do some work, which they completed (or not). I don't think that was where the explosion was. The street is open again, but I have not yet gone down to see if I can see anything.
Explosions are a bit scary.

I went down to take a look a few minutes ago. The explosion did not at all take place where the workers were. In fact it was not obvious exactly where the explosion had been except that there was a row of four shops that were closed with the metal shutters rolled down. At least two of them might have been closed for the holidays. In any case, although the explosion was quite loud, it didn't shatter any windows so I suppose that it was statistically insignificant in terms of "incidents."

The company that is supposed to repaint my ceiling after the water damage fiasco related to the roofing job keep delaying the date. They were supposed to do it next week, but now they are saying the last week of September.
This would not be a trauma since I am so used to it -- after all it's been 10 months now -- but I am itching to go somewhere and it is out of the question until the ceiling is fixed. I have been investigating travel possibilities ranging from 200 to 9500 kilometres.

Our generator has broken. We were able to find a replacement on sale with a reduced price of $400.00, we were really happy about that. Put it in place and filled the gas tank but were surprised that it has a different plug which will have to switched out but it should be ready go for tomorrow. We have not had many storms this summer but one is forecasted for Tuesday.

I just bit the living piss out of my tongue! It hurt so much I almost cried. I immediately applied ice, then noticed that the ice tasted funny. It wasn't the ice -- it was blood. Damn! In seven decades of doing stupid stuff, this is a first. Of course I've bitten my tongue before, but just in that ooo ouch way. Never made it all ragged and bleeding before. I am intensely unhappy.

OMG, Bixa, How hurty and bloody (and scary)Ice was a good idea, just don't put tissues near your mouth as they shred or stick and are not easy to remove. clean cotton handkerchiefs are the best. Do you think a stitch or 2 is needed...stopped bleeding?? Ragged should see someone. Avoid hot drinks and stick with soft foods for a while.Best to give the curries and chili a miss as well. Tongues heal pretty fast as I remember. PS your tongue may be swollen for a few weeks and it is easy to bite it again. Take care.

That's what I was about to write -- that once your tongue is swollen, it is much easier to bite again. The same goes for lips or cheeks. But it should get better fast as long as you are careful.

Me, too. Also smells distinctively metallic to me. Must be the iron-richness of the red corpuscles.

Many years ago when I were a lad I was hit in the mouth fairly gently by a cricket ball. Unfortunately I often batted with my tongue out so I shut my mouth quickly and bit through my tongue so badly I had to go to hospital and had 2 stitches. Without anaesthetic..,,

Are you in the business class lounge, at least?
Thanks for the sympathy and advice, all. Yes, I know all too well about re-biting a sore spot. Questa, I immediately took Ibuprofen when it happened, and woke during the night & took another. It's hardly swollen at all, and the trick now is to not do that think where you keep testing it to see if it hurts or not. Yes, blood does taste metallic and also meaty.

I have always been fascinated by the fact that we all know that it tastes metallic and yet most of us have not spent time sucking on old pennies like OnlyMark.
I have always found that mangoes taste metallic, too. Therefore not my favourite fruit.

Coriander/cilantro tastes like soap to many people. Not me. I have badly bitten sides of my mouth, but never the tongue to such an extent. This madrugada, I woke up to Livia retching. I thought I'd be confronting some horrid remnant of a dismembered rodent, but it was only clear liquid that I could pick up with a cloth and launder said cloth. Still, I feared she had been poisoned, but she is fine and purry right now.
