Bixa, your bee, all covered in yellow, appears to be a most aggressive pollinator.

Very nice close ups, Kerouac. You're so good at doing it well. I love sunflowers. It's been a long time since I've seen huge butterflies. This one was much larger than my hand.

What a bunch of great pollinator pictures!
Fumobici, I love the whirring wings in the first two, & the way the third one seems to be saying, "I'm tempted, but I can't eat another bite!"
Those are two gorgeous compositions, Kerouac, & the transparency of the wings in each one is really, really fine.
Oh, I love those big guys, Htmb, & you perfectly captured both the body & the dusty wing pattern. They used to be all over the crape myrtles in front of my grandparents' house when I was a kid, but I believe they're a species that's suffered from the effects of pollution.

Oh Cheery ~ you really are the bee queen! And what an uplifting way to think about the buzzy creatures.
What are the ones with the big fly eyes?

They're hover-flies Bixa, we have quite a few species visiting the garden. The ones in the photo are episyrphus baltaetus I think (could be wrong....who me?)and seem to be the most common here.

Cheery, you are the queen of pollinators. Except for a lucky shot every now and then, I don't think that any of the rest of us can hold a candle to your bee photos.

Aw you're very kind. I get a bit frustrated because I can't seem to get the clarity in my images that I'd like. Considering that I regard many of the people on Anyport (including the three of you guys) to be truly gifted photographers I am very happy with your comments.

Clarity!!!!! Clarity? Cheery, I'd be deliriously happy if I could achieve the clarity you get in most of your close up pictures. I'm always amazed at how clear and focused they are.

Cheery, your pictures are so clear that I may have to suspect of you gluing dead naturalised bees to those flowers in the appropriate poses.

I now have Windows 10 and the colour saturation on the images seems a bit intense....I'll sort it eventually... bombus lapidarius..a rare visitor to our garden and probably my favourite species of bumble bee bombus terrestrisor b.leucorum it's difficult to differentiate without looking at their naughty bits and I don't have the knowledge or the desire to do that.... and lastly a little male bombus leucorum

More beauties, Cheery! It's the time of year for northern hemisphere pollinators. These were at The Cloisters...

Well, I'm throwing in the towel. I will never achieve the beautiful clarity you two ladies have here!
Cheery, all of your photos are wonderful, but I reeeeally love the last two.*
Htmb, all those round shapes with the perfectly placed bees -- what a picture!
*Cheery, would you feel like starting a Windows 10 thread, maybe in Free Trade Zone? I am getting ready to install 10 and would love some guidance, as I'm sure others would.

Thanks, Bixa. After looking through most of the thread, I do believe you're right.
