Maybe they were just all drunk like at the Golden Globes.

Oh I love her hair (just saw the photo). Though she is one of the few people who looks attractive with a pixie cut.

I thought Halle Berry's current 'do overwhelms her fine features. I'm not opposed to the natural look, but this 'do is flying off in all directions and takes the focus off her lovely face. The rest of her was so elegant, the hair seemed incongruous to me.

It was revealed that the Price Waterhouse guy who SHOULD HAVE HANDED OUT THE BEST PICTURE ENVELOPE was busy shooting photos and posting them on social media in the seconds before he passed out the wrong envelope. Oops!
Jimmie Kimmel's onstage response to the kerfuffle was: "I KNEW I would screw this thing up. I promise never to do it again." I wonder if he meant that, or was just deflecting the embarrassment from the presenters and (both sets of) recipients, acting like a good host...

Just read an article reporting that one of the exquisite Kusama pumpkins at the Hirshhorn Museum was broken by a visitor attempting a selfie. source The stories of boo-boos and downright disasters caused by selfie taking keep mounting up.

Infuriating, though at least the artist is alive and capable of creating another.
That and texting while driving, cycling, walking, skateboarding...

i don't really get selfies anyway - i like nicely composed photos of places or things (where i try to not get a person into the picture), i like expressive portraits (where not too much distracts from the portrait itself), and i like snap shots that show people in funny or interesting situations without them knowing they are being photographed. selfies seem boring to me ...

I have never taken a selfie because I feel the same way.
I do understand the importance of them to teenagers (and/or people with the minds of teenagers) who get a chance to take a selfie with their screen or music idol. I see this in Paris quite often and see how excited they are -- and the stars usually seem to like a certain amount of attention as well. I suppose the ones who don't get asked for selfies feel like real losers now.

I have an old school friend who loves taking them and posting them on FB. I can't see the need myself. Maybe because what other people think of me has less importance to me than some. Plus, if some of the secret services knew where I was at any one particular time I could end up with a VX nerve agent face wash.

I just registered at my old university's website because I was looking through it last night and suddenly found my name on a list called "lost alumni." Even though I don't want to be found, I like it even less being considered lost. So that is taken care of now while 99% of my information remains hidden.

Selfies are so unflattering because of the wide angle lens on cell phones.

Even though I don't want to be found, I like it even less being considered lost. So that is taken care of now while 99% of my information remains hidden. I don't know why but I found myself laughing aloud at this. And, I'm a tad disappointed that you took the bait K2 because now you can anticipate umpteen newsletters and even worse, appeals for money. I say this because it happened to me. Anyone that knows me, knows where to find me, alias aside. I found this out after Hurricane Katrina when I had no computer, no mobil phone or other technological devices save a land line telephone which I wasn't home to answer. Persons who knew me well enough were able to find me through a number of ways, some in a roundabout "grapevine" kind of way and others who knew more personal information about me such as where my mother resided etc.

I think I should be safe because I unchecked every single email box (and there were about ten of them -- events, sports, culture, info, alumni events, etc. etc. etc.). I almost left one just to see what sort of stuff they send, and then I came to my senses.

A big amen to that! Almost nothing looks stupider than person holding a phone in front of his/her own face -- a face usually sporting an expression more appropriate to a golden Lab -- while trying to get a background iconic landmark into the photo at the same time.

when you are standing in front of 2500 people or so, even if you are (were) a big star, it is not conducive to normal brain functions. Decades of "having people" to do all sorts of organisational things for one might also have something to do with it. My blog | My photos | My video clips"too literate to be spam"

Almost 2 hours on the phone today with two different customer service representatives from Air Canada to fix the situation with our flights to Italy in September. I was so thankful my friend that we are traveling with was here to talk on my behalf. The one thing I was correct in understanding was that the first agent was incredibly rude to me, until he realized someone was with me. In the end, the situation was resolved by the second agent. The plus to the situation is that I am now available to meet one of our APIAS members in Venice!

Yaaay, Mich! But good grief, why do they have to make stuff so hard, especially since they were in the wrong? Well, justice triumphed anyway. You may not want to tell us right how who you are meeting, but we will expect a full report later!

Bixa, after dealing with the second agent we realized the first agent told us a few lies culminating with insisting there would be no supervisor for us to speak with today when we requested one. We were finally offered a full refund and then rebooked exactly what he said was not available. Persistence prevailed! The first agent really tried to get us to give up and take what he was offering. Once given permission, I will gleefully admit to who I might be meeting! A full report there will be. Tuesday I will begin my Costa Rica report!

Until you've been given permission, I will entertain myself trying to figure out who you might be meeting.

Yes, we had a good time. Even though on day three, after only about 20 minutes at our villa with the pool, after sitting on the side (my friend) and dipping her feet in to test the water temperature when she got out she slipped on the tile and fell and had to be taken to the hospital, her wrist was broken. She came back to the villa with a plaster cast and an exciting story, but she did not let this discourage her! Although she did not get to swim in the pool or the ocean, she tied a bag around the cast and sat in the pool and walked along the shore and kept positive to what she could do realizing it could have been worse if instead she had broken her ankle. I will elaborate in the report.
Tomorrow we load the photos onto my computer!

I am so excited Tod! It would not have been possible if not for Air Canada cancelling my original Venice arrival, so one very good thing has come out of that very frustrating and costly situation.

Flying home to Oz from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They were overbooked and I was in no hurry, so I cheerfully gave up my seat. Then a chap came up and asked if I had any leeway with dates...I did and so was given a 5 day side trip to Kuching "for being so happy to help us and no complaining." I had to pay for my already heavily discounted accommodation and a couple of tours. Loved Kuching and recommend it to anyone just starting on travelling in SE Asia'
