Thank you..I probably have a disproportionatly huge opinion of my achievement....my latest obsession is patterns which I draw freehand with a fine liner pen..initially draw a grid or circles in pencil then grab my pen and lose myslf for hours at a time. Nothing spectacular but pretty in it's own way. Here's an example, anybody can do it but this is mine...

Beautiful work, Cheery. It reminds me of the fabulous ceramics in the tiles of Central Asia. Not 'anybody' can do this, they can 'doodle' but you can make a work of art which takes creative imagination, patience and a steady hand. I am in awe just looking at the outer rim alone. Such intricacy!

My grandmother could crochet doilies like that but the thought of drawing it freehand is fantastic.

Thanks questa. It's honestly just doodling. I would love to be able to paint realistic watercolours but don't have the skills, so I doodle. I enjoy it whereas painting a 'good' painting is torture for me because I'm never satisfied with the results.

Beautiful work Cheery. They look like mandalas with their intricacies. Do you find yourself in a zen like mode while you are doing them?

Yes ~ what Casimira said! To me they are developed artistry and far, far beyond mere "doodles".

If you draw on a ceramic plate is there a way to 'fix' the ink? Could it be wash-up able? I see a future decorating mugs, tea sets and serving plates that would keep you in pens and vessels for years. I can see a plate with a central, stylised initial and all the delicate work coming from it,. Have you tried any in multiple colours?

That work of art is called TALENT ! Huge talent. So many of us can only draw 'stick figures' at best. Cheery you are a genius.

Very nice, Cheery. Much nicer than doilies, and I am impressed that you just do it freehand.

Might I suggest that these go into the Maritime Arts section rather than get lost in here? Of course with Cheery's permission. Modesty doesn't count, sorry dear girl.

I draw on heavyweight cartridge paper. Probably could transfer to a plate if my ceramic painting skills were better Thank you for your kind words and encouragement x by all means I'll post it on the other board..I have quite a few pictures and prints that I've bought over the years, a lot by local artists...so they would fit on the 'art on my walls' thread too. Thanks again...been drawing all day again today

I have no understanding of art. I like some, but I just don't get it. Cannot evaluate, cannot recognize any talent/pattern. Strange. Like missing a sense.

That is the case of a lot of people, just like my incapacity of appreciating poetry.

Oz slang regards POETS as "Piss Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday."

Odd that it is totally unknown in the United States. Or maybe not so odd since the term "piss off" is rather rare there. TGIF rules the day (or the night).

Odd that it is totally unknown in the United States. Or maybe not so odd since the term "piss off" is rather rare there. Respectable (or mealy-mouthed) offices can refer to it as " Push off early, etc.... And to wander further off tack, the father of a friend of mine would say "Let's pierce with a pin!".... (From the days when some jamjars used to carry the instruction "Pierce with a pin and push off"). My blog | My photos | My video clips"too literate to be spam"
