Is this a "R M Williams" Stand? Should look marvelous with such great product. No she’s moved on from RM Williams. Now with the Cambridge Satchel Company

Just looked up the Cambridge Satchels. I had bookmarked them years ago because I liked the bags -- they looked exactly like the schoolbags I had when I went to school in England in the 1950s, although ours were brown leather, not colourful like now. But I decided they were a bit expensive and I didn't really need another bag.

The Cambridge Satchel Bag....Wasn't that a code name for some espionage goings-on in WW2 and the Cold War? I just googled it as the name rang a memory bell. I seem to remember a small shop of that name being either a "drop" place or a safe house. Naturally google is only about the current business.
Does anyone else know anything about this? MI5 or MI6 were involved....

Because reupholstering is so spendy, "Spendy" ...I love the word. I use "exxy" (expensive) which I learned from a Canadian tour leader in Vietnam last century.

Some things I love in old Europe. We are at a wedding. At a great venue (means place ?) We are in a relatively old building with beautiful vaults in bricks. In front of a church Belonging to an old Cistercian complex. That was demolished in part after the French Revolution. So here I am in front of a XVI century entrance to the church with parts dating XIII century. All covered by moss and plants. Very romantic. Abbaye d Aulne. Quite nice. Not as beautiful as abbaye de villers la ville but still a nice old place in the middle of a medieval church . Wine is ok too. They should have goodbeer too. ADA. ABBAYE D'Aulne. Good beer.
Great beer. They know how to make beer there. Fantastic people. Great beer. Trust me. With unmatched wisdom I can tell you this is the best beer in the world.

You might find this interesting. I watched this the other evening -- a debate about the various uprisings, mainly about Chile and Lebanon but also more general. Rage against the system

The EU goes back to winter time next weekend, and this will be for the last time. Unfortunately, it has not yet been decided to which time zone we will permanently attach ourselves.

The future queen of Belgium turned 18 today. What parent could wish such a horrible fate on their child?

Tssss. Mathilde probably does wish it upon her kids. She looks more and more like Fabiola. A boring 'bigotte'. Like in Jacques Brel song. Elisabeth looks nice btw. It will be good to have a queen. We have not yet been able to have a female prime minister. We had a homo though. Already something.

I'm not a Royalist (no! really?)and would do away with the role here after the Queen shuffles off her mortal coil...Most of the palaces and treasures belong to the nation anyway so perhaps the National Trust or similar could take over responsibility for them.
Unfortunately the bloody politicians would sell everything off...

And Trump would buy them and turn them into hotels with golf courses. (Never thought I would come up with a reason for keeping the British royalty.)

Just about all of the world has no way of getting BBC2. (I consider myself lucky to have BBC News and BBC Entertainment.) But I will just mention that on a major article that I read, it was mentioned that Mexico should be avoided for security reasons. "Except Oaxaca." That's why I don't understand that the Oaxaca meetup has not yet been scheduled. There are at least 2 days left before Muertos goes into high gear.

Time to go to bed.
What I found strange was that my body changed time before the clock did. I slept an hour longer than usual all week before the clock did its thing. This is cf course not a problem when one is no longer working. So this morning when I woke up, it felt as though I was back to normal.

That's why I don't understand that the Oaxaca meetup has not yet been scheduled. There are at least 2 days left before Muertos goes into high gear. Yeah! Exactly what the hell is THAT about?! Every year around this time it gets discussed with enthusiasm, then disappears like the morning dew at noon. Bixa, quick! The gardens of Oaxaca is on the telly! BBC2. Mick, it's 13 hours after you posted that, & I'm only just now seeing it. However, I sprang into action and you can see the fruit that bore here: anyportinastorm.proboards.com/post/324086/thread

I may need to be fitted for a padded cell soon. The fireworks are really out of control here. When I was a girl we had a small box of rather underwhelming fireworks, half of them duds if my memory serves me well...now? Anybody can get hold of huge, display quality fireworks...they've been going off here (we had one night off last week...dunno why) from dusk until 3 or 4 am. Really loud window rattling ones...the dog is barking constantly, shaking, dribbling..leaping around the furniture... poor little bugger. Jeff keeps shouting at him which of course makes him worse...
So we are all a bit ratty.

It might happen here one day...hopefully. The next door neighbour has just been round to let us know that they will be letting off fireworks tomorrow night...it's bonfire night tomorrow so I cant complain. She was very defensive altho I said nothing derogatory...just said that the dog will be barking anyway so not to worry enjoy them. Hmph.

Last week was Diwali...as well as big official displays lots of folks had parties culminating in firework displays...festival of light and all that. It's a huge deal here in Leicester. Also...we have 2 universities and a large student population...fireworks at 0400? Excellent idea.
It will soon be over. Hopefully.

I live in a town with a very large university. Fortunately, with the exception of July 4 and New Year’s Eve, it’s rare to hear fireworks after midnight.
My blah, blah, blah: I got to reinforce my ten words of Italian this afternoon on a bus in Paris since that’s what everyone around me was speaking most of the ride. I so admire people who can move smoothly from one language to another with seemingly little effort.
