That damned Christmas stuff is preventing most of us from celebrating winter solstice as we should.

I don't see why we should celebrate it -- we still have to wait till early January for sunrise to begin to get earlier.

I don't see why we should celebrate it -- we still have to wait till early January for sunrise to begin to get earlier. Depends on where you are in the time zone, I think. Our sunsets have been a bit later each day for the past week or two, while the sunrises are also still getting later, making today the shortest day of the year, despite the later sunset. I’ve posted a link to a sunrise sunset calculator for any city over on SkyWatch, if you want to know when YOUR earliest sunset or latest sunrise is/was.

Yes, but I saw somewhere that even though the days do start getting a bit longer, sunrise doesn't get earlier for a few days after the solstice.

I saw that my local supermarket has a special on caviar for only 696 euros a kilo. Should I jump on the offer?

The flowers came with two sachets of flower food! The first to use for the first twenty four hours, then I'm supposed to change the water and use the second sachet...seems a bit of a palaver....

I've bought some flowers with those packets in the past. I think it is just a trick to get you to blame yourself when they wilt. "I didn't follow the instructions properly."

More important than using the packets is slicing off the end of each stem with a VERY sharp knife or razor blade. For best results, do it every few days when you change the water. I’ve also heard dropping an aspirin in the water is good. Or a few drops of chlorine bleach to keep bacteria from multiplying.

The older I get the earlier I arrive at airports My flight takes off at 3 20 and I am already in front of baggage drop off. But at least I saved 100 euros as I had plenty of time to park at the economic parking and take the shuttle. Flight is announced on time. So far so good.

The drawback of being early. Plenty of time to buy perfumes. Here go my hundred. And more.
