To mark the start of a new series of programmes about the symphony, the BBC arranged for a pop-up performance of Beethoven's Choral Symphony at St Pancras station yesterday. Wish I'd been there - it must have been some welcome for the people arriving on Eurostar (perhaps not so much if you were trying to get through concourse in a hurry!). By the way, I believe the radio broadcasts of the series on the internet will be available to people outside the UK, even if the TV programmes aren't. www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/radio3/2011/11/a-pop-up-symphony--beethoven-at-st-pancras.shtml

I wish they'd been there the time we missed the train for Chesterfield and had to wait around for the next one. I'll bet the acoustics are interesting. Fun, Patrick. Thanks.

Wait. That has to be St. Louis MO USA's own darling conductor David Robertson. I'm hoping to see him in a couple of weeks.

So I've watched that about 7 times now, and boy does it make me want to visit London.
Robertson tends to conduct either the new cerebral highbrow stuff or the All-John-Williams kind here in St. Louis. We'll be hearing him conduct an all Spanish music program later this month, more up our middlebrow alley.
Yes, thank you, Patrick. I can listen to BBC radio via that link.

David Robertson has conducted for the BBC Symphony on a number of occasions that I'm aware of. He did the Last Night of the Proms a couple of years ago, which is quite something - there are some clips on Youtube.
