I got all 13, although one was a guess (US military casualties). I'm a news junkie though.

bjd, I am impressed. I missed the 9% unemployment, for some reason I thought they were asking to umemployment rate including the people who have stopped looking for work which is 15%. A problem I had in school many years ago, try to read more into a question than is there.
I found the comparison of scores at the end interesting.

I missed the 9% unemployment, for some reason I thought they were asking to umemployment rate including the people who have stopped looking for work which is 15%. My husband pointed out the same thing. He said the 9% reflects only the people who are collecting unemployment compensation. He got 10. I looked at the stats afterward and was surprised to find that most people got the number of soldiers killed in Iraq wrong.

I have had 13 foreign exchange students and they all seemed to notice that the average American really does not know what is going in this world. One student from Belgium was asked by one of his fellow high school students where he was from and he said Belgium. They the person replied, "Oh, that's next to Brazil".

I'm impressed with anyone not from the US getting better than say 6 on this. Recognizing on sight that first guy? or that dark haired woman? Or which unemployment statistic to choose? I'd have to make a wild stab at the unemployment rate in Mexico or Canada, let alone a European country.

Our 17 yr old French houseguest this summer was solid on who Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt are, but little else about the US, though.

This has changed recently. I got 12/13 on the new quiz. I missed picking out a new senator's face.

I got 13 again, although I guessed for a new senator too, as well as for a corporate logo.
Only 8% got the same results as me and I'm not even American.
