thanks all! It's our Company's decision, to only allow minimum non work-related bandwidth usage from work. The document says any place where you exchange with others such as, but not limited to chat websites, etc... It doesn't stop some colleagues from playing on a bandwidth-heavy virtual sailing competition at all hours, not only lunch time. I do hope they will soon be stopped. it really grates. because I now abstain from checking my charity's forum during lunchtime to check for any news of stuff I can do to help. You can tell I am fuming!

Auntie, I don't know if you can log on at all to Any Port from work. If you can, this might help you fly under the radar. It's from the Port Authority, under "Your Profile" Maximizing load speed:If you are using a slow service and wish to browse Any Port more quickly, here are a couple of things you can do. First, set your skin to the one called 'very plain'. Because it has no background image or special buttons, it will load faster. If that is still not fast enough, set Show Images (under Account Preferences) to 'no'. This will mean that no avatars, or posted pictures, or forum graphics will show. These will all be replaced by text. If there are posted pictures you wish to see, you can reset Show Images to 'yes' long enough to view them. Note that the special background images in some of the boards will still display. Also be aware that the skins are in alphabetical order. Because of that, 'all packed' is always showing. Whenever you modify anything on your Profile, be sure the skin you prefer is selected before hitting the Modify Profile button at the bottom of the page.

Annie, this sucks!!!!! I worked for a company that allocated each person a certain amount of band width, and when your bandwidth was up, it was up and if you needed to do work related stuff on the net and you could not, then you needed to justify why they should increase your allocation.
I really liked that, it made each person responsible for their usage (and it was fairly generous).
Also, if your work was not up to date and it was evident that you spend a lot of time on the web, they decreased your allocation. But if your work was up-to-date, noone really cared.
Bix, you will probably find that her company has a tracking tool and when she logs in here, it will reflect on the log, so work frienldy or not, once a company starts putting restrictions on, not much you can do.
We will miss you auntieannie.

Work internet access heer is limited to quota's of 10 minutes a time - up to a maximum of 60 mins each day. However, certain sites are quota free, for example I can get into Yahoo anytime. Most forums are blocked totally without a quota option, but access to here and The Refuse is really odd. One day I'll be able to get into one - quota free - but not the other, then the next day it'll be the ohter way round. Mostly, by around 11am, I can access BOTH sites quota free. Today already (5.30am), I can get into both. It's odd.

I have unlimited internet access. If they ever complain that I surf too much, then I'll tell them to give me more work.

I don't have much time to be on here - we are so busy and admin is sick again. I'm stealing a few moments of sanity.

I forget how far apart our time zones can be on this forum. I just looked, and it's 9:22 in the morning in Phnom Penh. It's 8:22 at night where I am.

Yes, I've been suspecting that were in nearly exactly opposite time zones.
