Such a lovely space you have created Mick. (I agree with Breeze and would love to put out more chairs and have a cocktail or two. Make mine a Dark and Stormy please). Dark and Stormy! My favourite! In Barbados we had the absolutely perfect Dark and Stormy. If only I could recreate it.

Some dainty items drying on the clothesline would have made everything perfect. I edited that out of the picture.. All the cricket kit drying off...

Ooo ~ gorgeous selection of foliage. Mick, what is that "wild-haired" shrub third from the left, in the back against the wall?

So lush , Yes re Bixa's query but I am also trying to work out what the climber is - a fig ??

Itβs a yellow flowered broom and the climber which doesnβt climb is an apple.

All the plants including the flowering are in the green spectrum. White, yellow and blue.

The brick wall is excellent. (So are the plants of course.)

Mrs M would go crazy for a garden like that. Does the lawn need much maintenance? A cut and trim now and again?

Mrs M would go crazy for a garden like that. Does the lawn need much maintenance? A cut and trim now and again? Thatβs all. Basically the lawn is for the benefit of the dogs so gets well fertilised.

Nice hostas! I just went to the garden centre and bought a couple of plants for shade. I have to stay away from that place -- it's an addiction.

You don't fool around when you make a raised bed!
Love the new succulent bed and the way it's separated from, yet sort of married to the bed behind it. The gravel and the older stones near the house make it already look well established.
Such lush, healthy hostas!

It was my son in law's idea as he had the timber at work. I wasn't sure at the time but very happy now.
More work will be done which will increase the growing area.

You have been a busy lad Mick. I love the look of the raised beds. I'm hoping to make some raised beds with brick but using timber could work nicely too.
Your hostas are so heathy and robust!! The slugs and snails will have a feast and then some.
The succulent border is a nice addition.

The timber was free so no contest!
Top bed has onions, potatoes and broad beans.
Lower bed has yellow stem chard and beetroot just germinated. In a few weeks it will also have sweet corn and courgettes.
Top right is a long narrow bed which will have tomatoes and French beans with wigwams at either end for sweet peas and cucumbers.

Yellow stem chard! Are broad beans fava beans? Indeed they are. First beans of the season and a favourite of mine. Lovely with fried bacon.
