Many different events going on here this weekend. A few friends are featuring their art work at various studios around town for the holiday shoppers to purchase. Will probably go in spite of having little $$ to spend and being the cheapskate that I am giving lemons as gifts in lieu of some original art work. Then there's the weather issue and what I may end up doing driving all over God's creation swaddling tender tropical plants as a precaution for the impending cold weather. Then, there's the issue of this machine making moaning, groaning sounds which would enable me to spend a good chunk of the weekend and beyond reading stacked up New Yorkers. Lots of potential here.

I am spending my last Friday among the ranks of the unemployed. I have a month's worth of things to do in one day.

Your first "free" weekend Cristina! Well done! Round of neighborhood holiday gatherings this weekend. Will try to summon up some enthusiasm for. Weather supposed to be yucky. Cold and damp.

Hmmm... can I go to a movie AND get a haircut this afternoon before it's time to go to the nursing home? The morning was already eaten up by the expedition to Carrefour.

What's a weekend? Seriously? I have Thursday evening off... from the time that I wake up, usually 5pm... then have to work at 7pm the next day which is EARLY for me.... so my next closest thing to a day off is Monday when I don't have to work until midnight, and wake up earliest than usual b/c I'm getting off my 7pm-2am shifts. Think I need some time off...

well today i go to my grandma (should get going actually) and a friend of our's from liberia is coming too and wants to teach us to cook some african food... tomorrow i have to get up very early and go to bf's place, this time not with a shared car, but by train - but with a cheap ticket that only allows regional trains so i have to switch trains several times.

It's the last day of school for my two youngest boys. Then they have nearly 3 weeks off. I have a lot to do, but it's so good having everyone home for the holidays.

I'm working this evening, hurrying to finish a painting in the next day or two (Christmas commission, barter style), and missing the office party tonight. I'd just as soon send my husband the party boy instead of going myself, though I like everyone a lot.

I think this weekend everyone I know will be hunkered down around "the fort" given the forecast for temps to be in the "teens" for the next few days. All schools are closed, markets cancelled and any other outdoor activities. I will probably do some long overdue cleaning, snuggle up and read, work on my Mardi Gras costume and eat hot, hot, soup.

It took so long for my tiny rental Fiat 500 to warm up this morning -- I had practically arrived at the office before I felt any heat.

My daughter H is in a modern dance performance tonight. Grandma was supposed to drive up, 5 hrs worth, but too survivalist cold out there for such a journey and still snowing, so we urged her to cancel. (not to mention keeping the drafty old home warm enough for her)
Sunday we'll see The 39 Steps at our Rep Theater; husband will use my mother's ticket.

I ventured out to town and met a friend for coffee at Raymond Blanc....careered home on the icy pavements and won't dare venture out again today. I have finished my Phuket photo-essay...whew!
My car is iced into its parking space where I'm going to leave it for now.

The weather is wretched—raining and cold, since yesterday afternoon. We stocked up on library books yesterday and are staying inside. It's unlikely to get icy, gracias a Dios.
Hope it clears by tomorrow or

Busy weekend, supposed to rain so ,will not be able to do much of the garden cleanup from the freeze. It can wait. I will be spending much time with a neighbor/friend who recently had double knee replacement surgery and is being discharged home today. Tomorrow morning I have to attend a"class" to re qualify for certification to be a Poll Commissioner in Charge of my election place for the upcoming election(in February) for Mayor and various City Council posts. There is no way to describe how ridiculous, inane and what a complete waste of time this "class" is. Fortunately, there are some other people I know attending so,we can cut up if we want.

Sunny and nice today but it looks like rain is on the way for late weekend and next week. We can't complain, with everyone else having and just had very cold weather. It is in the 50's right now going to mid 60's . With everything that is happening in Haiti, it is good to be alive!!!.

well during the day when the bf was at work, i spent time at the computer, either writing my thesis or procrastinating, and when he got home we ate, watched movies, or worked more on the computer. i just didn't have any reason to go outside, and while i considered doing a short hike or something, there was always that thought of having to work at my thesis that kept me from it...
oh well, made up for it this weekend - walked an hour to the climbing gym yesterday, climbed, then took the bus home, walked an hour to my bf's mom's old place today, cleaned there and packed boxes, then walked on to the climbing gym, climbed, then got a ride home by another climber. so i was outside during the weekend...

It's still Friday morning here. I'm waiting for my recently widowed friend to come over so he can use my computer phone to get some business done in the States. I'm not really in the mood for company, though. Maybe this afternoon I'll go to the library.

I'm off today, work the weekend. Had coffee early with some friends and shopped at my favorite Italian market this morning.
There's a coffeehouse up the street that has good live music in the evenings. Maybe we'll wander up there.
