A couple of hyperlocal websites in Kerouac country: www.dixhuitinfo.com/ 18th arrondissement and www.dixneufinfo.com/ on the 19th. There are many "hyperlocal" (or microlocal) websites and blogs in and about Paris streets, parks, bus, métro and tramlines, parks, markets etc., as in many cities. It would be interesting to discover more of these.

Kerouac - thanks for this link. I have been reviewing the restaurants in the area, from highly recommended Le Bouquet at 38 rue Marx Dormoy,(below a block of apartments), to Le Paradis de la Crepe in rue Olive, serving buckwheat pancakes. I was curious about the Italian girl from Naples who holds cooking classes in an old vine covered building at 5 Impasse du Cure`, on Tuesday and Thursdays.
There was also a punt for The Mandarin Market Chinese Restaurant at 33 rue Torcy. They advertise a menu at 7.50 euros. That is my kind of place! Not forgetting my husbands favourite Tin Tin which is also featured here.
There is a photo of The Olive Brasserie (as there are of all the other places) taken at night which makes it look like a friendly relaxed place to have a meal. What about that pricey place called Ice Cube down at the end of rue Passage Ruelle??
A photo of rue L'Olive recommends a good tagine or couscous at Chez Eddy/L'Eden Flower at number 6. And if that's jam packed there is Le Pactole, 50 rue Pajole also serving generous portions of couscous dishes for around 10euros.
What more could anyone want! I'm sure you'll be able to tell us if these places are still around?

I recognise most of the names, so the places still exist. I do intend to go to the Ice Kube in the Kube Hôtel someday -- after all, it is the only 4-star hotel at Marx Dormoy, created in the former corporate headquarters of the Grandes Brasseries de la Meuse. The bar, seats, tables, etc. are built out of ice. The vodka is served in glasses made out of ice. www.muranoresort.com/#/K75/12/

O great! Went to the link you gave: I had to laugh at the way they portrayed the Ice Kube Bar.......sounds of gusting winds and what sounded like far off wolves howling ( at the moon?!) Looks a funky place and much nicer than the deep freeze section of my refrigerator with it's bottle of Polish Vodka - kept for a guest who calls occasionally, but I'm thinking during summer it might be nice with some tomato juice.....
