The main purpose of my trip this time was to visit the Portes Ouvertes of Menilmontant www.ateliersdemenilmontant.org/adm/portes_ouvertes/portes_ouvertes.htmThis involved much wandering round the Xxe, but judicious use of the map, the buses and the metro, made it fairly painless. I did not visit them all I hasten to add. Here is a selection On the way round I had to dodge this angry little so-and-so One young lady misunderstood my request to take pictures and posed rather stiffly for me But this old couple had no worries, the shark in the next picture is theirs and pinned to the fence on the opposite side of the passage This is also their work I also visited the excellent studio of M Geyman and took this on the approach I spent two entertaining afternoons doing the rounds and was very well received despite my atrocious French

While I think that all of the open houses that the artists have throughout the year in Paris are a great idea, they do not fit my personality. I don't like to invade enter the personal space of unknown people, even if I am invited to do so and I don't necessarily want to find myself in close quarters with them with obligatory conversation and commentary. However, I know that I am in the minority, and I still get voyeuristic pleasure out of looking at the photos of such events!

What I forgot in my original post, was that I had bought a cat. I had got my youngest son most concerned when I told him I was thinking of getting one for company. My late wife could not stand them but we had one when I was a child and always liked them. Anyway this was a pottery cat from one of the ateliers Also my Paris trips always include a wander through the Puces de Vanves. This time I found a little Daum owl, which now sits beside the cat on my mantelpiece. Lears ,"The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea, in a beautiful pea green boat" springs to mind. Definitely going gaga in my old age ;D ;D ;D Read more: www.ourparisforum.com/index.cgi?board=reports&action=display&thread=4947#ixzz28hDjryeo

Those look nice. Now all you need is a real cat which would probably knock them off the mantle in no time!
