Odds and ends from Paris

I have posted a couple of pics in the images section, both taken in the Place des Fetes. I happened to have a coffee stop there while transferring from the bus to the metro, and had never looked round before. This is held up as THE example of brutalist architecture foisted on Paris when new housing was urgently needed in the '60s/'70s.
In the centre stands this thing, which I wondered if it was the prototype for the pyramid in the Louvre ;D ;D
From there I went to the belvedere above the parc de Belleville, which is one of my favourite viewing points in Paris, unfortunately the haze was too bad to take decent views. However someone had been busy with muriels
very imaginative to have holes in the side of the aquarium.
There was also this watching over another rough sleeper, there seems to be even more of them this year
The day before was sunny and I went up the Tour Montparnasse, but the haze was really against decent photography, but I cannot let Sacre Coeur go by
I spotted les Invalides, one cannot miss the golden dome
These three metro stations look far too close together via a telepkoto lens. I was lucky to catch two trains just right
Also St Sulpice
Down at street level it is easy to see what a cosmopolitan city Paris is, when one can go from Englad to Kashmir via America, in 3 hops
I also found another building by the Palais Royal being renovated and held together by sticky tape
This trip was the first time I had seen the funny column stubs
One day my cheek may get me into trouble or something
I always do my present shopping in Galeries Lafayette, which was very busy with a promotion
they always have wacky displays
Coffee was desperately needed and I had this wacky number
I generally treat myself to one meal in the restaurant le Laumiere, and started this one with fricasee des champignons, I was surprised to find a poached egg as the centrepiece and that the cook was too lazy to plate the dish. It was just dumped in front of me in an old saucepan ;D ;D
I had a steak and took this pic for my wife who had to have her meat cooked to the consistency of a boot sole
I went to a video presentation by some Belleville artists, but it was way too avant garde for me to understand. This decorated van stood in the street outside
You know I have a weakness for street art and I found this elsewhere
That concludes my little perambulation. Thanks for putting up with my ramblings.
