Started promisingly on Friday evening with the ever-twangy Wychwood Wychcraft, and ended with a nicely softening sherry.
Saturday's football extravganza was mainly supported by more Wychcraft, and then celebrated in style with Woodfordes Mardler's and Wherry. I then took a slight step back for the evening match and comforted myself with bog standard John Smiths,a nd am now currently back on the taste wagon with more Wychcraft. I predict a light fall of sherry and whisky overnight, with a precipitating element of more ale later tomorrow.

Hmmm... that looks a bit like BigIain's announcement elsewhere that he had wine for dinner with pizza as a side dish.

No it doesn't. I haven't mentioned solids once.

It's le croix-poster! No matter, the OP is rather witty.

Croix poster ? What, you mean posting the same thing on two different forums ? Is that so odd, seeing as how each one has a different bunch of contributers and opinions ?

One of them has really good posters and the other one is.... different.

My week is ending on a good note. We visited Brighton today. I can't remember being there before. The sun shone so it was pleasant enough. There was a pebbly beach with people sitting on it dressed in warm clothes; no parking spaces available (nothing unusual in that); lots of funfare action on the pier and we had a late 'all-day' breakfast at a greasy spoon caff. Having attended a 'Moving On' exhibition (moving on after divorce that is - my friend is a lawyer) we walked around the back streets and found a shop selling Vegetarian Shoes. That's about it.

Vegetarian shoes - I guess this is the food element of this post.

I didn't think it was possible for a person living in England never to have been to Brighton before.

I lived 45 years in England and never went to Brighton until my daughter moved there. I have never seen the sun shine. It's nice to wake up to the sound of seagulls.

The vegetarian shoes looked just like leather shoes...the shop was closed so I couldn't examine them.

Well, I'm very sorry, but you are just going to have to re-visit Brighton on a weekday. Inquiring minds want to know about those shoes. Are they edible? Maybe it's just a marketing ploy to sell cheap plastic shoes. Will your feet smell like spinach if you sweat in them?

Vegetarian shoes aren't THAT uncommon. We even have at least on shop in Norwich that sells them.

That's very illuminating.
Now -- what are they?

Shoes made without any connection to using an animal, as far as I'm aware. Obviously, that's a MASSIVE leap of assumption to make, so I can understand how it was so perplexing for you.

"as far as I'm aware".
You don't know, do you?

For sure, no. But I'm pretty positive. More positive than you, anyways. Ever heard of Google ?

I'm not positive because I'm keeping an open mind. Obviously they're not leather or alligator or feather shoes, but what are they made from.
Also, vegetarian shoes is a dumb name. Shoes for vegetarians, yes. But "vegetarian shoes" sounds like a dish -- "eggplant boats" or the like.

Once again, it would appear I can't make OP's, or reply to pm's . Other than that, obviously, I'm ignoring you ....

Staring in bewilderment at my monitor I realise that I have a vegetarian computer. Shortly I shall be writing with a vegetarian pen on vegetarian paper. I have just never thought of them this way.
Mrs Faz has some Crocs. Do these count as vegetarian?

Did you know though, Baz, that ALL computer motherboards are actually powered by a giraffe foetus ?
Crocs just count as bad taste. End of.

Crocs just count as bad taste. Maybe. Myself, I've never eaten one.

I might well have to return to Brighton in the near future. I anticipate instituting legal proceedings against someone and the expert is that particular field is in Brighton. I'll go hotfoot to the Vegetarian shoe shop. In the meantime here's a picture for Baz of a seagull on a Brighton rooftop:

I normally start work at 5am, so am mostly up by 4.30am. And now, even on my days off, my son has decided to wake up at 6am or thereabouts. Cheers lad.
