I can testify, that these are interesting and different foods. Not only that, they taste good! I sampled a number of these at the Pátzcuaro mercado last year. My favorite was a chile-seasoned caldo (broth) with chiles güeros floating in it and tortitas de arroz. (Little cakes of rice.)

Those foods look wonderful, and there are some nice ones I'll try for vegetarian friends.
But I could never resist a glass of white wine with that yummy fresh fish!
Even my parents didn't really observe Lent any more - we did tend to do the fish on Friday though, probably more out of cultural habit and my mum always thought fish was good for the health, moreover I love fish. But I have been wanting lighter foods and not much meat recently, as I feel heavy and sluggish from the long hard winter (and not cycling) and want to feel springlike!
