He threw that in to appease Trump and his sycophants.

Coming to this thread fresh from reading about Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing, you can imagine that I'm in no mood to even try to think the best of those destructive snakes. *fury*

I don't think the person threw that in. He or she actually believes in those toxic policies. No, I don't think it is Pence, but it is someone who thinks like him.

I don't imagine it's Pence either. Although I have always thought he would be even worse than Trump since he is such a bigot.

I think it's Ivanka.
Some of you will be relieved to know that the United States is no longer the laughing stock of the world. Things are becoming so grotesque that it isn't even funny anymore.

I just can't get over that by "their" very admission, the country is run by nameless, faceless people elected by no one and accountable to no one. Yes, it's absolutely terrifying. It proves what Trump knew all along: all you have to do is grab enough power and take it from there. I don't think the person threw that in. He or she actually believes in those toxic policies. Totally agree with you, LaGatta, thus my one word summation of the person's entire being. And I am close to agreeing with Trump about something, and that is his summation of the writer as gutless. If the in-with-the-in-crowd creep actually cared about the country, he or she would come on out with it publicly and demand a full investigation into what is going on in the executive branch of the US government.

Love Andy Borowitz. Another of his headlines: “Trump outraged that 2018 election will be decided by American voters.”

Very different circumstances, but Bertolt Brecht wrote a famous poem, "Die Lösung" (The Solution)about the crushed 1953 people's uprising in East Germany. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_L%C3%B6sung"Would it not be easier In that case for the government To dissolve the people And elect another?"

I saw that, too, but $10 million seems like a pretty pitiful amount in any case, no matter what you use it for these days.

Probably doesn't seem all that pitiful to aid and rescue workers scrambling to find beds for people displaced by a storm.

Of course it's pitiful. I didn't look up the FEMA budget, but probably it was already pitiful before that money was transferred out of it. Just imagine when the "Big One" finally hits California or a volcano explodes again in the Pacific northwest, Hawaii or Alaska...

Wow, I never heard about this until today. It is astounding as to how insensitive he is and how he can always find a way to make things about him, even in tragedy. His comments about how successful their response to the hurricane in Puerto Rico was also incredibly insensitive yesterday.

Mich, the number of victims of the terror attack in NYC and of horrible neglect in Puerto Rico is almost identical, just short of 3000.
And whatagain, what an insult to Belgium.

Lagatta, hearing that he is disappointed in that he has not received the credit he deserves for the response to Puerto Rico when almost 3,000 people died was shocking and he also brought it up again at a Medal of Honor ceremony, dreadful and disgusting. He has also congratulated himself on his response to Hurricane Florence, his ego has no bounds. Whatagain, that is horrible, his comments regarding Belgium are evidence of his ignorance and arrogance.

Really and truly, there is no end to the evidence of what we already know, which is that Trump is a pig.
At this point, I am more interested in documentation of the ways that he and his minions are dismantling the United States.

That is true. We know what he is. It is more useful to document the lasting damage, and for people in the US to devise strategies against his wrecking crew.
Probably the most useful aspect of the WTC and Puerto Rico comments is to refute his claims of being any kind of patriot.
Whatagain, as if there are no tough neighbourhoods or violent religious nuts in the US! I doubt many countries are free of either. I've watched some reports about changes in Molenbeek, though that is a bit off topic...

Is it wrong for my heart to leap whenever the TV cuts away to a “Special Report” in hopes that our POS POTUS has choked to death on his Big Mac?

He makes me feel physically sick in the stomach when his babblings are on TV. I will admit I had little time for Americans in Bali...noisy, rude and ignorant (like some Australians) I could not understand how such an intelligent country could louse up such a simple thing as elections and how the 'good old boys ' could get elected in spite of so-called democracy (era of Gore) Now I feel so sorry for the American people. They have been led like lambs to the slaughter. They have a President who is madder than King George III and a world walking on eggshells trying to avoid a Third World War. Everyone and his dog is making lists of his incapability to be POTUS but where is the tipping point when some brave person stands up and says,"We, the people, have some lists here, it's time to bug out, Donald. There is an Aeroflot seat booked in your name."
