Aside from resignation - which ain’t gonna happen - and assassination, all the options for removal require congress’s approval, and with the GOP in power, they aren’t in a hurry to oust Trump’s rubber stamp for their “agenda”. Sad.

And off-subject pee ess: (some) Americans on vacation are obnoxious boobs because most Americans don’t get more than 2-3 weeks a year of paid vacation, so they tend to go overboard, sort of like Friday night at the bars. It’s embarassing, but we aren’t all like that. Mr. Kimby and I tried to be respectful travelers, even declining the option to climb Uluru out of respect for the aboriginals, and declining topless sunbathing with European tourists in Thailand because it offends the modest Thai people. When you travel you are guests in someone else’s home...

The more I see or hear of Trump, the more I think he has a gigantic chip on his shoulder/inferiority complex, which he tries to hide by being a bully. Not a "deal maker" -- he is a bully, whether it's with his staff or with other politicians.
It's unfortunate that he is able to get away with this behaviour because he is enabled by gutless Republican politicians who want to keep their political privileges or by the big money backers of the Republican Party who are happy with the inequality, tax cuts, withdrawal from pollution controls, etc.
What I fail to understand is why he still gets support from his base, the idiots who voted for him in the first place and think he is doing a great job while he is destroying the US's standing in the world.

You said it all, Bjd! I think it's a scary facet of human nature that there is always a large contingent in any population that wants to be led. It seems that contingent equates leadership with loudness and bluster, which they perceive as confidence and an ability to get things done. This sort of "leader" neatly absolves them from knowing anything about how their government actually works, while at the same time giving them permission to finally feel and display their muddy prejudices which they'd formerly kept tamped down in order to be seen as nice people. What is terrifying is that his voters and all who support him overtly or secretly are so often people who should know better. They're not all low-IQ knuckle draggers, in fact often are well educated "respectable" members of the middle class who manage to keep themselves blinkered so that only the information which supports their short-sighted world view manages to get through.

As a person admittedly "emotionally unhinged about Trump", I found this article most interesting. Has anyone read Woodward's book yet? Interview -- Bob Woodward: 'Too many people are emotionally unhinged about Trump'

I don't follow POTUS on Twitter, so maybe some of you other fans can enlighten me. Has he stopped tweeting during Hurricane Florence? There seems to be no news about him for at least the last 36 hours.

No Twitter, no Facebook. I get my news from websites like the BBC (worse and worse dumbing down), the Guardian and the New York Times. Analysis from the NY Review of Books.

Facebook isn’t inherently evil. The Guardian, BBC, The Atlantic, New York Times, Wallstreet Journal, The Economist, Bloomberg Review and Washington Post are among many news outlets that post articles on Facebook. My FB newsfeed is indeed a newsfeed.

Yep, ditto what Kimby said. You can set up facebook so that you never get anything except posts from hard news outlets.
And too true about the BBC -- it's hardly worth reading anymore. It's as though it thinks people have zero education and attention span.

In the EU, we no longer have access to quite a few news outlets, particularly some American ones, because they saw no reason to respect the EU directives regarding personal privacy and the acceptance of cookies.

I think you're on to something Patrick.
First verse:-
Old toadstool willy they called him The saviour of the Midwest. He hung out with young Stormy Daniels A gal with a wonderful chest.

I read the linked article and also his follow-up link in it. The second one is not really worth reading, as it's more of an advertisement for buying the writer's book or hiring him as a consultant. But, back to the first article -- yes, it does lay out the sequence of events quite well, although it doesn't include the second accusation since that one one had not yet emerged. Of course I am still furious that Obama's candidate for the court was dismissed without any kind of a hearing by the same lowlife shithooks who are trying to push through Kavanaugh's confirmation. So yes, there is spiteful hope in my bosom that enough dirt will emerge that even the old boys club might not be able to ramrod Kavanaugh through. Dr. Ford will testify on Thursday morning, despite Republican efforts to hustle her into doing it earlier. My fervent hope is that her testimony, along with that of the second accuser, and please god, anything else that might still emerge, might stymie the confirmation of this sterling example of Republican misogynistic dreck and also make the women of the US realize how very important the mid-term elections this year are.

Pee ess ~ how does Kavanaugh get away with not answering questions which he deems "too personal"? I guess the same way the whole country lets Trump get away with not showing his tax returns.

Shouldn't he have just kept his pecker inside his clothing?
And the taxes stuff is beyond absurd. Governments insist that we disclose everything.

God, he's such an asshole. I had to put the captions on to understand what he was saying when he trailed off with "America's ... so true". I didn't watch that clip, but a much shorter one on The Guardian. I couldn't handle watching a full minute of the orange creep. A little more on his addressing the UN: The lead writer of the speech was reportedly Stephen Miller, now the primary bridge between the White House and the American far right. source
