The Guardian has a very interesting article about long songs that you almost never get to hear on the radio. They have made a list of pop/rock songs that last more than 10 minutes, some of which I had never heard and others that I have always liked. The Songs that Never EndI think that we can discuss favourite long songs here, but I would set the bottom limit at 5 or 6 minutes rather than 10. In any case, the radio almost always plays edited versions of longer songs or simply cuts them short with their bla bla bla. We can rehabilitate some of them here. The first favourites of mine that came to mind when I read the article were these: Moonchild - King Crimson (I immediately discovered that even YouTube prefers short versions because just about all versions of this were only about 2min30!) Take a Pebble - Emerson, Lake and Palmer Yes - Roundabout

What a cool thread!! I knew immediately that In-A-Gadda_Da-Vida would be listed. And, there are a few listed that I never realized were longer. Traffic's Low Spark of High Heeled Boys being one, and one of my favorites. As for Donna Summer's extended version of Love to Love You Baby would leave me slitting my wrists...

That's a song that vast numbers of us listened to in an altered state with only one or two candles in the room.

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this song. Years and years later hearing it in the movie Apocalypse Now, so so powerful. Genius choice Mr. Coppola

Kerouac, I know that your post pertains to In-Da-Gada-De-Vita but, I cross posted/edited my post after you so, lest others think you listened to Donna Summers "in an altered state, with only one or two candles in the room", I am here to rectify your post.
