This looked bad right from the beginning and as the days go by it looks even badder.
If there is any blame to pin, it seems very difficult to find the correct donkey. Climate change? Incorrect development? Political incompetence? There are numerous possibilities. I guess it's just a combination of all that, but then you have to wonder about the victims. How many of them moved into areas that they knew were reckless? How many didn't bother to get proper insurance? How many were fooled by the authorities into moving into areas that were not safe because they were told "it is perfectly safe."
This happens in every country, sometimes for fires, other times for floods or earthquakes, but this is once again an "American sized" event. The POTUS doesn't not seem to have talked about it much because his advisors probably managed to convince him that he shouldn't say "We have the best fires! No other country has fires as big as ours! I had an idea for these Democrat fires before anybody else, because I am brilliant. There are no mailboxes left for them to send in their fraudulent absentee ballots." Etc.
On the French news tonight, they opened with the same scenes as on the video below, except that the French television crew also filmed an orange cat sitting the the middle of the street mewing its heart out, hungry and thirsty and wondering what had happened to its house and its family.

I hope that if they filmed the poor chat roux that they rescued him or her. As well as the humans, I'm terribly concerned about other species harmed by this shitstorm, whether wild or domestic.

We have always had developers advising buyers to build in fire prone areas. We have always had people wanting to build in flammable overgrown "bush retreats". There have been councils who will approve these and may have been rewarded for doing so.These conditions have always led to fires...the sort that the under equipped fire-fighters might take a week to bring under control
What we have NOT had is the months long infernos that we are seeing now. When even the air is so dry it explodes into flame by itself. Now the tornadoes of fire burn everything and even the earth is on fire, the soil itself sterilized.
Human ignorance and greed will start the fires but only global warming and gross neglect of the planet will destroy it.

The POTUS is visiting a fire zone today. He will certainly have some interesting observations.

The old fart bag might make the fire zone worse.

The old fart bag might make the fire zone worse. Is methane flammable?

He said it would eventually cool down. 💩💩
He also blamed forest mismanagement by California. 🤬🤬
Gov pointed out that 57pc of the forests are managed by federal.
Stats show the dry periods are longer. Stats show the hot periods are longer. Could have an impact ? Could be related to climate change ?
Nooooo. Fake news. It will ger cooler. Same say as Covid will disappear.

It's obvious that you've known a better class of male humans than I have. I first learned of this "sport" when I was in high school, but a quick search of youtube shows that it's still alive and well. This is not something you'd ever find female humans doing.

I fear that this talent was regularly on display when I was in university, just before co-ed dorms became prevalent. Now it might be necessary to go to Frat Row for a proper presentation.
